Simple Swedish summer house

Remember those simple summer holidays? The ones where you packed up the car with all the essentials and just a few little luxuries and made the trek to your holiday spot. Year after year your family always stayed at the same cottage or shack. Simple, basic but oh so special. Days were spent lazing about, swimming or hiking, winding down and enjoying the slow life. I do and I wish I had been able to spend my summer days in a house in the woods like this one in Sweden. Simple but stylish, nothing that isn't necessary and just enough to enjoy your stay comfortably. From water to couch in your still damp swimmers. Picking herbs for lunch from the overgrown patch by the back door. Cooking up a storm and relaxing afterwards with a good book or good friends. Bliss. This lovely summer house belongs to Swedish stylist Mikael Beckman. Unfortunately it is time for him to say goodbye to it and he is selling. Maybe a group of us can pool our pennies and buy it. Link to the sale site here.

I tought I saw a wabbit!

Yes it's true. I was stalking today and came across what I think is the blogosphere's first sighting of the Easter Bunny. Standing guard over the stunning home of architect Sharon Fraser.  Modern and minimalist the house achieves a balancing act between pure white box form and everyday family needs. Look carefully at the aerial view and you will see a minimalist cubby house perfect for the littlest family member and all watched over by the giant red rabbit sculpture by Peter McLisky. I'm seriously in love with this house. The minimalism married with the whimsy all wrapped up in the fact that it sits high on a ridge behind the Northern New South Wales coastline in Federal, sigh, perfect ... and it has a conversation pit! The house is called "Amileka" which if I had $6.75 million I'd be changing the name to "home". Link here while it lasts.

Beach stalking 2

You know those movie scenes where the recently deceased turns up at the Pearly Gates in Heaven, clouds misting, dressed in white, met by St Peter, harps playing, big gates swinging open? This is what is on the other side of those gates when the clouds divide. Noosa in Queensland at its outrageous Noosa holiday house best. All that is needed to enjoy this house is a colourful bikini and a killer body and lots of ice for the drinks. Maybe I get a killer body when I die. Link for the sale listing here while it lasts.

A welcome mix of styles

I really REALLY love the following home I discovered last night while doing a quick jaunt around the internet. It's Spanish, built in 1900 and maintains alot of the original architectural detail - the mouldings are to die for! The juxtaposition of these details with the vintage furnishings with a retro vibe is what makes it so appealing to me...and those incredible tile floors.
