Croatia

Have you noticed how things never stay the same? Like personal taste? I have seen my likes and dislikes change and coalesce, firm and falter over these past few years. I have always admired the work of New York based interiors and landscape firm Rees Roberts + Partners. I think I had a crush on their work way way back (so did Kim even further back). Then I was drawn to their cool, sophisticated urban interiors. All elegance and class. I was revisiting their site the other day and was drawn immediately to this Croatian house. A new work? Must be. I hadn't noticed it a couple of years ago otherwise I would have remembered. It is so fabulously rugged yet stylish with just the right touches of casual elegance and midcentury classic pieces. But maybe it's not new. Maybe it was there all along. Maybe I'm just looking at it with new eyes, a new awareness. All I know is I love it!

White light Parisian bright

Ah bliss! Paris home of Australian fashion design Martin Grant. White. Tick. Aged timber. Tick. Midcentury and thrift finds. Tick. Licks of colour. Tick. Beauty but nothing too, too precious. Tick. Brilliant feature from new fav site Vårtnya Hem. Tick. Packing bags. Tick. Invading unknown Aussie expat's home. Tick tick.

Dreaming...

Pinch me. I'm dreaming. Dreaming of slow, warm summers in the south of France. Of family times, olive trees and a converted barn. I'm dreaming and I don't want to wake up. This stunning feature is from Vårtnya Hem. An incredibly tasty site. Check it out.

Sleep in the city

The flood waters have receded and things are grindingly returning to normal for a lot of us here. The flood survivors face a mammoth clean up job. I feel very petty complaining about the 4 and a half hour return journey I now face each day to get to work (flood damaged train lines). First mud and now a thick dried crust cover everything and the devastation is heartbreaking. I want to run away to this pristine white dream of a boutique hotel in Belgium. A girl's shopping break? Yes please. And no mud in sight! Sleep in the City via the ever fabulous Studio Anndacht.

A castle in Denmark

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away a castle awoke from its slumber, shook its traditional roots and decided it wanted to be thoroughly modern. Well almost. A fairytale castle always has to be just a little bit fairytale. I love this modern take on a traditional home. Katrine Martensen-Larsen of KML Design always finds the most wonderful places.
