Temptation

Every so often an email lands in my inbox from perhaps the cruelest man I know. Chris from Welcome Beyond dangles dream designs in front of me and it is all I can do to stop myself from hocking everything I own, jumping a plane and escaping to the hand picked boutique vacation properties that litter the pages of their website. Chris has cruelly tempted me again with a Spanish beauty and oh the temptation! Alemanys 5 ...  "located in the core part of Girona's medieval quarter, within the scope of the first wall and overlooking the Plaça de Sant Domènec, is the property Alemanys 5, whose original building dates from the Sixteenth Century. Its recent restoration integrates old and new, where sober and clean lines look for the enjoyment of essential elements such as space, light, shadow, fire, stone, water or silence." Two apartments, "El Badiu" (The Veranda) and "El Jardí" (The Garden) designed by architect Anna Noguera. Thanks Chris for the link and double thanks for the extra photos. I'm packing as I type!

Airstream dreams

Can a girl go weak at the knees over a caravan? Oh please! This ain't no caravan. She's a sleek and shiny 70s era Airstream. This baby was lovingly restored by Santa Barbara architect Matthew Hofmann. She's small, efficient, renovated with recycled and sustainable materials and is the live + work space for Matthew and his girlfriend. But most importantly she is sexy! Alas she wasn't always this hot. More like hot mess as you will see after the jump.

***Pets on furniture posts will resume in a couple weeks when I return from holidays! - Kim

The other day my sister called me and said "OMG Kim, you have GOT to blog Lexie's house!!!". Lexie is a furniture designer and her husband is an architect (his firm is Mork-Ulnes Design) - which explains why her house is so freaking amazing. In 2006 his firm was responsible for extensive renovations of this 1896 Victorian home located in San Francisco, which features 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and is just over 2600 sq ft. I absolutely adore every square inch of this home, from the architecture to the decor. And for those who may house hunting in the area, this home can be YOURS, as the family is moving to Norway in the summer. This has got to be one of the top 5 homes I've ever blogged. (MANY more photos after the jump).

Straight into my inspiration folder

I saw a couple photos of a home on Emma's blog the other day and I swear I thought I was going to have a stroke. It's so perfectly eclectic and funky and random that I had to post it here so I can refer to it at least once a day for the next 10 years. (It belongs to interior designer Marie Olsson Nylander, her husband and 3 children and was featured in Residence magazine).

P.S. I finally got around to posting a list of my favourite Ottawa shops - they're on my page so click here.

Lusting...

...after this dining room.

I adore the Dear Ingo by Ron Gilad for Moooi light fixture (and my fav new store carries it here!), the thick wooden table, the Thonet bentwood armchairs, the Flos Toio floor lamp... but I could do without that rug.
Styled by Victoria Backman.
