Candyass

I stumbled across the New York home of artist Cary Leibowitz (also known as Candyass) and was floored. This guy is nuts, in a totally bold, pop art, colourful and graphic way. And I love it. Candyass is bad-ass. I love people who don't follow rules.

Leila's OTT loft

Leila emailed us some photos of her ultra-gorgeous, ultra-glam, ultra-funky loft and here's what she had to say: I always fantasized about sending you guys pics of my apartment when I finished decorating it, never thought it would take over two years. I have a beautiful loft in Brooklyn but it has this windowless room that I couldn't figure out. Basically I went back and forth between wanting a guest room and wanting a home office. Well in February I got laid off from my corporate fashion job and was given a nice severance. My dream has always been to have my own line so that's what I'm doing. Made the office decision easy! It has been the absolute best thing that's ever happened to me! I now have a cot in the laundry room for guests. They hate it! So here's my pics, I've gotten sooooo many ideas from you! My style is what we call in fashion OTT (over the top). My mom thinks all the chandeliers make it look like a brothel (I have 12).

What do mothers know anyhow? I think every girl should have 12 chandeliers!! (Thanks Leila!!)

Holy home

For as long as I can remember I've always dreamed about converting a building, such as a barn, a mechanics shop, a church, into a home. Well, some folks in the UK have converted done just that. They purchased a church for £92,000, spent £300,000 in renovations, and it's now worth about £650,000. I'm not sure that I could live in a home surrounded by gravestones though....EEEKKK!! Would you want to live here?

I am so disappointed with the decor. So much to work with...those blue sofas gotta go. I think the hole thing is just way too church-y. Photos found here.

A heavenly bathroom

I received an email this morning that totally made my day. Here's what Dylan wrote: "I just wanted to write as a local Ottawan and say that I am a big fan of your blog and follow it daily. If you're interested, I've attached a couple of pics of my bathroom that we completed last year. I'm a future designer (currently in school) and this is my first real project. It is in keeping with the style that your blog seems to feature (neo-baroque?). Anyhow, thanks for posting so many amazing pics! Its nice to see good design does exist in Ottawa!" This renovated bathroom is straight out of my dreams. And since I have 2 totally awful bathrooms to redo eventually, I think I'll be looking Dylan up for some advice and sources. Be still my heart. (Dylan, you've got an amazing career ahead of you).

Just a tad jealous

My "mother-in-law" emailed me some photos while I was making dinner of my "brother-in-law's" new 6 week old miniature dachshund puppy. Could this little guy be any cuter??!! Unfortunately this little sausage of love lives in Prince Edward Island so it'll be a long time before I ever get to meet him (or her? I need details).***Update: It's a boy, named Edward. ?? LOL
