Scott Waterman

Scott Waterman is an artist, a talented decorative painter and I'd like to add an incredible interior designer once I saw photos of his home. His decorative painting began with trompe l'oeil murals and the restoration of historic buildings. Amazing talent (click for larger images)...

His former home in San Francisco was featured in several shelter magazines and was absolutely breathtaking - so serene, romantic, captivating and filled with natural beauty. The creativity in these spaces is fascinating.

Scott has alot of ideas for his house and someday hopes to move his studio out of it, but in the meantime it's fantastic - the white makes his stunning and colourful artwork just come to life. Talk about multi-talented!! Thank you Scott for introducing us to your creative world.

Temporary beauty lasting impact

Scott Weston emailed with pictures of what he calls perishable architecture (and I call one amazing party space). I'll let him explain.

"Thought you might like to see a project we term perishable architecture. A dinner party for the latest Nokia 8800 phone based on the reference to light. We hand glittered all shapes & sizes of lanterns & they looked spectacular. The model demonstrates to the Client our design intent & then the remaining images show the real object. We even designed laser cut black leather placemats- very cool!"

Cool?!!! The whole event looks spectacular! How long did it take to stop finding glitter where you least expected Scott? Scott and his design team have an impressive portfolio of this sort of temporary beauty. You can find more of Scott's work that he has shared with us here and here.

Grand Tour

Call it serendipity but just as I'm ready to write today's post I receive an email from Jonathan Adler's PR Director Deb Willis letting us in on Jonathan's latest addition to his website, his monthly musings. This month he waxes lyrical on his Neo-Neo-Classicism range and mentions the Grand Tour. Grand tour! Here's the serendipity....

Today's post is an OMG gobstopper. Look at this outrageous one bedroom (yes one bedroom!) London apartment. Well-to-do young men of the 18th and 19th century travelled Europe improving their classical education and bringing home a few well chosen (dare I say pilfered) souvenirs. Think Elgin Marbles. What I'd really like to know is if this is the owner's collection or if they inherited it from their Europe trotting ancestor? My goodness I hope they have a cleaning lady! Although I could not live like this I secretly envy them this amazing collection and the passion needed to live with it. Perhaps I'll take just a soupçon of Jonathan Adler's pieces instead!

A little vacation anyone?

Dutch designer Piet Boon designs and builds homes, then takes on the design of their interiors as well. He once visited friends on the island of Bonaire, in the Netherlands Antilles of the Caribbean. He loved it so much he designed his own beach villa on the island and furnished it with his own creations. It is situated right on the ocean and is available for rent. More details here. Any takers?

Boy free zone

Sometimes we girls need a little pampering, a little me time. Sometimes we want pink and frilly and fragrance and fantasy. Time for a virtual spa day in this oh so girly, OTT spa room by Caroline Vesey. For when zen is not your yen.
