Sweet Crib

Leontien (or Accolady as she's known on Flickr) sent us a link to a mid-century Palm Springs rental getaway that is freaking fabulous. Just imagine the parties you could have here.... (Thanks Leontien!)

Note: Richele of *richie design* emailed to let me know that she had covered this house (photographed by her photographer friend David Zaitz) on AT:LA recently. So check out her post here.

OMG I need to live here!

I have found my new interior design star and her stunning house near the lake in Zurich, Switzerland. Sue Rohrer is the genius behind these rooms. I think this passage from her feature in the Andrew Martin International Interior Design Review says it all.

"Designer: Sue Rohrer. Company Sue Rohrer Zumikon, Zurich, Switzerland. Wants to study at St Martin's School of Art, London. Could be exiled with just her Amex card. Would paint her whole house black. Feels that cars should run on alternative energy. Would love to be painted by Modigliani. Covets an Alexander Calder mobile. Wants to do lunch with Karl Largerfeld.
Fantasy cover story: Financial Times' How To Spend It magazine,
'Biggest Lottery Winner, ever.'"

Go immediately to her website. Go go what are you waiting for? There are too too many fabulous OTT rooms. LOVE!

Retro kitchens

There are some things conceived in the 60s that hold their age quite well (ahem, ahem .... I'm a case in point) but there are others that are in serious need of cosmetic surgery or is that a complete gut reno? Here are some interesting to say the least kitchens from the era. OK, OK I could live with one maybe two of these.

OMG! Only 6 months!

We have only been blogging for 6 months and look at the monster we have created!!! Kim wanted to celebrate with a photo of a naked man jumping out of a birthday cake. This is the best I could find. Thanks to all of you, our readers. We are having so much fun we'd do this just for ourselves but doing it for you guys is even more special.

We'll be doing some house keeping in the next couple of weeks. High on our priorities is updating our blog roll. We know there are lots of wonderful blogs out there in the blogosphere that we haven't included. Here's your chance to let us know about your blog. Email us with your link , we'll take a look and if we think we'll make a beautiful couple we'll swap links. Remember we are looking for interior design/house/decor orientated blogs.

Once again thanks for all your wonderful support over the last hectic but rewarding 6 months. I bought the cake so drinks are on Kim!

Oh No!!!! Here come the 80s!

It's true. The next big thing in retro is the 80s. Salmon and grey, lacquer and smoked glass, cane, indoor plants, gilt chrome and the "chop" pillow. It's the era of shoulder pads, power dressing, leg warmers and white shoes. Greed was good and taste went out the door! Here are a few 80s rooms that give you an idea why it's on the comeback. Not everything was tasteless. I should know. I was definitely there!
