Alexandra Angle

I am smothered with alot of eye candy with my trawling through the blogs and websites looking for blog research and despite being overloaded with these visual I love it when something can capture my interest and leave me utterly smitten. That was the case the other day when I happened upon this post over on The Bedlam of Beefy, where our dear friend Beefy featured the designs of the uber-talented Los Angeles designer Alexandra Angle. Her designs are at times bold with colour, always cheerful, comfortable, unassuming, youthful and whimsical. They just really do it for me.

The Kate Moss of homes

Thanks once again to my bro-in-law Dave for providing me with a link to another home that I thought was blog worthy. Actually, there isn't anything very spectacular about this home in Barcelona. The reason why I'm blogging it is because it's apparently "impossibly thin", "freakishly thin", "If buildings had human doppelgangers, this one would be 90s-era Kate Moss" and "just 12 feet wide". That is why I had to blog this. Because my home is also 12 feet wide. But here is where this home differs. It's nearly 4000 square feet (mine is 926) and is the length of an entire city block - 82 feet.

I see the light

I'm fairly certain I've just died and gone to heaven. Quick, SOMEONE PINCH ME. If this were to be my last post on this blog, I can say I went out with a bang. I am talking about the extraordinary photography of Jean-Marc Wullschleger. This man has photographed some of the most memorable homes I've seen during my MANY hours of research for this blog, and may I be so bold as to say they are some of the coolest homes on the planet.

Salvinia

I am stricken, yes stricken, with love for this 18th century half-timber house hidden in the dunes and marshes of the Vistula River down on the Baltic Sea coast of Poland. 3 apartments contained within an historic building. Old and new, history and the stylishly comfortable here and now. I just can't come up with the right words to describe this house. Nothing seems worthy enough. I speechless (or should I say rambling). I wouldn't want to leave this holiday lodge.  Salvinia Lodge. That's the name of my new home. I'll be renting it forever and I'll expect you to join me soon. Tomorrow I'll introduce you to the architects.

Achingly beautiful

Oh the view! The view! It takes my breath away. A simple, stylish holiday destination housed in a 300 year old Spycher high above Lake Lucern in Switzerland. "Simple and stylish" doesn't really describe it does it? Spectacular and sensitive. A bygone era and a very special place. A spirit. A genius loci. It makes your heart ache with its beauty and your spirit soar. Im Spycher is truly as close to heaven as you can get.
