Look what a little blood, sweat and tears can get you

The other day we received the following email from Jennifer: As a long time follower of your blog, I know you do real estate stalkings. This is my home that I just finished restoring last year. It was built in 1917, nothing had been done to it, well I think, ever!!. It was scheduled for demolition when we bought it. Completely dilapidated, falling over....It took us almost 2 years to renovate it. The tears, the joy, the work....ugh...but the end product I am pretty proud of. We have just put it on the market today and I would love it if you would post some photos or the link! Any of your followers up for a move to Texas??? Now, it takes alot for me to be rendered speechless when it comes to interiors. This one did just that. And when I came to I made my husband come over to my laptop and showed him each and every photo while gasping and pointing. I'm not sure what I'm more shocked about - that this house was supposed to be levelled or that Jen is selling it. (Although she says they just finished one across the street and will send photos when they're moved in and have it all decked out - can't wait!). Listing link HERE

White and wood and sea

I couldn't think of a more beautiful place to live. The solidity of the white home facing a relentless grey sea. Timbers aged the colour of the waves and sky. Simple furnishings and fittings belie the everyday luxury. Just enough of everything to make life sweet and always that view taking your breath away. Martin Gómez Arquitectos ... again. South American design is blowing me away at the moment. Simply stunning. La Aduana, La Barra, Punta del Este, Uruguay.

Still far from the norm

Definitely far from the norm. Minimalist, white, mid century classics, a dash of black to heighten the mix, bagged bricks and bleached floors and just because it's amazing how about the IKEA PS MASKROS sitting cheek by jowl with Hans Wegner's Wishbone chairs. The Fredensborg house by Norm Architects Copenhagen. White perfection.

Simple

Jason Gibney created this beautifully crafted apartment in Bronte for his family. Minimalist. Streamlined. Honest in its materials. Clever in its use of space. Look closely and you will realise that he has extended into the roof space of his typical "six pack" apartment block. As for the kitchen hidden behind the wall ... brilliant! Jason is Managing Associate Director at Sydney architectural firm Tobias Partners. All I wish for (besides the ability to live so simply) is for larger photos! Via the Houses Awards.
