It's American Gothic (painting) meets American Pickers (television). It's dramatic and moody and quirky and fun.It's intimate spaces and soaring ceilings. It's theatre and performance, oasis and sanctuary. It's John Mellencamp's Island Retreat in South Carolina by interior designer Monique Gibson and it's fabulous.
From its traditional facade all the way up those stairs to the colourful attic room this house is the perfect balancing act. Farmhouse yet modern living, the crisp bite of white and the deep moody greys, parent and kid friendly. Casually elegant, not at all stuffy. It's fresh and fun and perfect for a young family. Florida interior designer Andrew Howard can convert anyone into a bold colours and pattern-mixing lover with his charming and whimsical projects. This project is captivating with it's main scheme of blue and that kitchen is a dream (my favourite tile!). So fun!
It's bright and sassy, stylish and playful, family-friendly and pattern packed. It's fun, it's fresh and so very, very liveable. This once tired and dowdy 1930s house got its fabulous makeover from Nashville-based Pencil & Paper Development Co.
