Stalking something a little more classic

Classic and contemporary that is. I'm stalking the stylish inner Sydney suburb of Woollahra and this 19th century terrace house has beautiful bones, luxury finishes, a charming small garden and a fabulous art collection. Traditional and modern. The best of both worlds. Link here while it lasts.

More from Heide Hendricks

Yesterday I had featured a couple of homes that had been decked out by Connecticut interior designer Heide Hendricks (here and here). Today I thought I would share a bit more of her designs because I am pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy her traditional spaces. Must be because she gives them a bit of an edge with coloured trim, vintage light fixtures and mid-century chairs. The result is eclectic and unexpected and spaces I would absolutely enjoy hanging out in.

A 1929 farmhouse

While on the subject of traditional homes, I thought I would share this 1929 farmhouse designed by, once again, Heide Hendricks. It is exactly the type of home I imagine when I think of life on Prince Edward Island (where my husband is from). I have to show this to my mother-in-law. Maybe she won't think I'm such a nutcase if she sees I blogged this. ;)

Chris Dyson taking you back

Of course, I had to start this post off with a cat on a bed photo as I have cats on my brain these days (my 2 little ferals are breaking my heart they are so sad/scared). British architect Chris Dyson was featured here a few years ago, and continues to inspire with traditional spaces restored and modern spaces where updates are a must. But it is the traditional spaces that makes my heart skip a beat. In London how could you not want to keep this history alive when it is so absolutely gorgeous?

A condo remodel

Anastasia Faiella sent along some photos of a project she worked on this past year. It is the remodel of a 2200 sq ft condo in the Russian Hill Area of San Francisco with absolutely glorious views (including the Golden Gate bridge!). Anastasia's client deemed this her "dream home" so she went all out, including all new custom furnishings. Dream home indeed! I would be happy with just that rooftop deck! I love that the kitchen is not large but it is so well planned that it even hosts a large flat screen TV AND a fireplace. Great job Anastasia! (P.S. Check out more of her work here and here)
