Summer forever

I wish summer would last forever. To sit here at my computer with the window open and listen to the birds, traffic (LOL), and enjoy the cool breeze. To see green outside instead of white and brown. I could just move into a traditional Mediterranean villa such as this one and all would be right with the world. (I would have to add a bit of black and more modern and industrial touches to it though). Via Micasa.

Antiq-BR

I'm at a loss for words today. One of my cats (admittedly my favourite) has been VERY sick the last couple of days and passed away a few hours ago. It's times like this when blogging about interior design just seems so...trivial. I'd like to do a tribute to him on Monday's pet post, and you'll see why this has affected me so deeply. I leave you with the home and showroom for a Madrid-based antiques shop called Antiq-BR, where they carry French, Italian and Swedish treasures from the 18th & 19th centuries. Via Nuevo Estilo.

The perfect getaway

It's a long weekend for most Canadians and one of the last before not-so-nice weather returns. Everyone will be hanging out at a cottage, but I think I'd like to pack my bags and head to this villa on Mallorca. It's incredible - sophisticated, luxurious yet understated. I especially adore the courtyard complete with pool that you can see from every room. It looks so peaceful....I could spend hours and hours out there soaking up the sun, lounging in the pool and re-energizing. Thanks to Stephen of ecoDESIGNfinca for sharing his creation with us.

Field of dreams

Like a child's drawing. A rudimentary shape recognisable as a house. It wasn't there yesterday. Now settling softly in a new mown field with walls closed, little hint of what awaits within. Throw open the walls and breath deep. A simple structure, a simple life. Simply a dream. The ÁPH80 portable home by Spanish firm ÁBATON.

Susanna Cots - parallel to the sea

I have another stunning home for you designed by the talented Susanna Cots. The sea is the centre that marks the disposition of the rooms, the lighting and the colours of this interiors project. Inspired by the house’s exterior, we captured the lights and the shades which contribute to simplicity and calm. White predominates and gives to the space a personality that attracts order, and is complemented by colour. The design stretches out to the sea from every part of the house, to allow Nature in. My favourite combination - a simple, modern interior in mostly white with rustic accents (gorgeous coffee and dining tables!). The flooring in the bedroom and bathroom looks a bit like decking but I can overlook that. I am intrigued by the kitchen - very cool how the countertops are white and black and how the black carries up the wall.
