Susanna Cots - transversal expression

Susanna Cots is an interior designer from Barcelona and this home is her creation. skin made of wood that transversally crosses the housing is Susanna Cots‘ “leitmotiv” to develop this interior design project, the home in Barcelona of two book lovers. The starting point of the housing is located in its central nucleus where the dining room's ceilings are dressed in wood that, at the same time, shapes the furniture that holds the TV and a bioethanol fireplace. This wooden wrapping continues across the ceiling and separates the living and the water areas inside and outside, and is subtly bathed in natural light in the bathrooms. The warm area reaches the suite defining the sleeping area and finally becoming the bed head. I really love the idea of a feature that carries from one space to the next. There's something very inviting about that... it's like an invisible force guiding you. And in this case it seems to act as a blanket. What a beautiful home.

Manolo Yllera

Whenever I need inspiration I find myself flicking through our archives and flitting from website to website to remind myself just how amazing are the people and places we feature on Desire to Inspire. Today's revisit is to Spanish photographer Manolo Yllera. Not just for his take on the stunning interiors he shoots but for his own amazing home and his studios. (You can see more on his website). So as the weekend closes in and I'm contemplating a little rearranging I'm drawn to these images, each a little different, each amazingly beautiful but what I find so inspiring is Manolo's understanding of positive and negative space. Sometimes it isn't what is there but what isn't. Happy weekend everyone!

Nook Architects

Sometimes I crave simplicity. My life is pretty much non-stop work and the idea of coming home to a simple, raw, calm minimalist space really appeals to me. Of course, this will never ever happen but I can look at spaces and dream that I can live without stuff. Like this apartment by Barcelona's Nook Architects. LOVE the lighting/clothes rail strips, and the sections of hardwood flooring amidst the concrete (particularly when it joins into a bench).

Santa Maria del Cami

A little bit smaller than the last home, Santa Maria del Cami is a 450 sq m newly built country home also located in Mallorca and designed by AP Design. Ethnic decor has been replaced with more traditional furnishings but with a bit of contemporary accents thrown in to keep it from being stuffy. And WOW - that stone exterior is spectacular.

Villa Llucmajor

Villa Llucmajor is a stunning 750 sq m home on the Spanish island of Mallorca designed by Anja Peter of AP Design. A wonderful juxtaposition of a modern structure and ethnic decor. It's a slice of paradise that would be a wonderful escape from reality.
