Retro love

There is a part of me deep down that will always love mid-century homes decorated top to bottom in retro furnishings. Brazilian architect/designer Guilherme Torres has been featured here several times (my last post here) and often creates vibrant, modern, industrial spaces filled with colourful elements. This time he has the colourful elements in al their glory, but this time the architecture has a more mid-century vibe. Super funky.

Stalking leftovers from my bed

Please forgive me while I honk my nose, cough and splutter, moan and whine and tetchily demand copious cups of herbal tea. I'm in bed with a head cold or the flu or some life threatening disease ... my husband's life if he takes much longer with that lemon tea. I'm such a sad and sorry invalid. I may feel like I'm on death's door but I can still stalk and when I'm sick I'm extra fussy. Not quite right, bad photos, I need more photos please, house is amazing furniture is deplorable or no furniture at all! Can't quite put my finger on it listings with something that has me nodding "yes". This week's leftovers include a couple of 50s/60s gem, one in particular that is in a sorry state but oh the potential and some bookshelves up under the eaves crying out for books. Click on the images to head to the listings. All via realestate.com.au.

Stephane Chamard

I professed my undying love to Stephane Chamard's work a couple of months back (here) and I have not been able to get his spaces out of my mind so I thought I would show little bits and pieces from several of his other projects. Each one is funkier than the next, with the most fabulous lighting, furniture and artwork. Bits of modern, mid-century classics, pops of colour and always in-your-face, no-fear vibes.  Love it!

Hillary Thomas

Looking for some spaces that are bold and fun, comfortable but classy? Los Angeles based interior designer Hillary Thomas has a knack for creating vintage chic interiors that are a bit Palm Beach and Hollywood Regency, with dramatic colours and patterns but keeps it grounded with neutrals and really cozy furnishings. I love the deep blue walls above combined with the black floors. GORG!

Black and white

I bought a few Spanish decor magazines while on holidays (I had to leave them behind because my suitcase was overweight dammit!) and this eye-popping apartment was featured in one of them. It is located in Milan, in a building designed by noted Italian architect Giò Ponti, and is the home of Italian interior designer Barbara Falanga. This bold, graphic apartment is all about black and white, with retro furnishings from the 30s to the 70s. Glam with edge. Not for the timid!
