Eclectic with a touch of gothic

I absolutely adore this house but I have really no idea what to call this. The architecture looks at times mid-century, or Spanish with a bit of 70's hotel in the backyard. The decor style is retro mixed with modern and ethnic and a bit gothic..... Well, whatever this is I FREAKING LOVE IT!!! I have been a fan of Salt Lake City's cityhomeCOLLECTIVE for a while now as they have such a unique, edgy, bold style and this project has to be my absolute favourite.

Sophisticated 70s

It seems that most Mondays I want to run away. I never seem to be able to face the new working week. Today I want to be wandering through the marble halls of interior designer Caroline Legrand's Ibiza pad. A monochromatic palette, sophisticated 70s pieces and texture on texture. Brown and beige never looked so cool.

An apartment with a retro edge by The Archers

My favourite interiors are those that cannot be replicated, that are edgy and eclectic and have a retro vibe. The Archers made that happen with the gut renovation of this bland 80's condo and created something unique and fabulous. The client, an art advisor, asked for "great floors and great lighting". The only elements left standing after demolition were the clear anodized aluminum windows; we repeated the material by introducing a series of aluminum pocket doors and interior windows with white glass panels in varying degrees of transparency, bringing natural light into formerly dark interior spaces. The new floor plan enlarges the primary entertaining zones, and creates a clean backdrop for ever-changing art installations. The floors are wide planks of reclaimed oak that only align to the central spine of the apartment. Many green materials have been incorporated, including recycled matte porcelain wall paneling in the bathrooms. Furnishings include a custom olive wood dining table by The Archers and pieces by Lina Bo Bardi, Oscar Niemeyer, and Warren McArthur.

A rural home with a retro vibe in the south of France

I spotted the south of France home of New York designer Annie Moore at Nuevo Estilo and instantly fell completely in love. I could barely get past the first photo above because having a little potting shed is something I desperately want and this space is absolutely gorgeous. Then when I was finally able to move along, the beautiful architectural details with some rustic elements and an eclectic blend of classic furnishings with a nod towards retro (gawd how I love white marble Saarinen dining tables) did me in. (If you're wondering why furniture changes slightly in some photos from others, I found some of these @ Marie Claire Maison)
