Big bright and white

Bold and brash and fun and funky. Colour bouncing off the white walls. Soaring ceilings and solid stone. Inside outside bright side white side. What fun! Perfect summer party house? Maybe ;) Honiton house by Sydney based MCK (Marsh Cashman Koolloos) Architects.

It's hot! I need to cool down

It was over 40°C here today. That's actual not apparent. Hot. Needless to say my heat addled brain turned to day dreams of water. Beach, shower, pool. Cool water and shade, a hint of a breeze. My body may have sat here sweating but my mind flew away to this beautiful pool and pavillion by Lake/Flato Architects. I need little more. Perhaps just a ceiling fan turning softly and a cold drink ... or several.

Punta or getting to the point

Stone and drifts of flowers. Wood and water. Formal and casual. Substantial walls and willowing drapes. The stone vernacular of Uruguayan architecture floats on flowers, touches the earth and provides a stylish hearth and home. Martin Gómez and his architectural studio address the site, caress the landscape and reach inwards to create the perfect home. La Pedrera, La Barra, Punta del Este, Uruguay. (You can see our original post on Martin Gómez Arquitectos here.)

A leafy lovely

I couldn't go today without one more fabulous garden by Eckersley Garden Architecture. How fabulous to sit and sip tea in the morning sun, share a communal platter of food in the dappled shade. Lush and lovely, relaxed and just perfect.

Garden tales

The weather is warming in the Southern Hemisphere and a design blogger girl's mind turns to gardening. I love overgrown, leafy spaces with a space for entertaining, a spot to read the paper, sip tea, perhaps a vege garden, some fruit trees, fabulous colour. Nothing too formal. Something just a little different but always with lovely, large leaves and vigorous, vibrant vines. I've always been a fan of Australian garden designer Rick Eckersley. Rick and partners Scott Leung and Myles Broad of Eckersley Garden Architecture must have read my mind. How perfect are both of these gardens!
