White in the green

Sigh! The garden House by Melbourne based architect Allan Powell. A white confection rising from the lush green jungle of a garden. (OK perhaps a little too manicured to be a jungle.) A stunning marriage of Deco and minimalist modern. It's spare but it certainly makes a statement. A limited and well curated palette of luxury. What makes just as much of a statement is the photography by Dianna Snape. We've often said on DTI that a good photographer takes a designer's work to the next level. At the edge of the woods stands a small white house. A beautiful home with a single room the owners share with guests. A room, a bath, a terrace, a pool, a lovely home and the beautiful countryside around the town of Sint-Martens-Latem in Eastern Flanders, Belgium. Bliss. The perfect spot to hide away or base yourself for exploration. Sometimes a small bed and breakfast beats boutique and brash hotels any day. Maison Blanche.

Casa Al Mar

It's Friday. Must mean that my attention turns to rest and relaxation. Warm sun, soft breeze, high design. A perfect trinity? Modern architecture meets traditional materials at Casa Al Mar in Port Sóller Mallorca. Round up the virtual holiday friends. We are off to lounge by the pool and soak up that view. I just have to find the energy to get that bottle of white from the fridge. Be a sweetie and bring it out for me?

Stalking in the Land of the Long White Cloud

Gloomy winter day here in Auckland and it's my day off so I decided to do some real estate stalking and found one of my favourite homes is up for sale. It was featured in a magazine a few years back and I must have ripped out the entire article for my folder once I stopped drooling! I probably couldn't afford the garage but hey we're all dreamers at heart. It certainly made me think of summer.....love the slick tropical feel with ethnic touches and worn timbers. Yum.

I want to see more pictures! I want to see bigger pictures! Hey I want to see better pictures! Sammy I want to see those torn out magazine pages! Dreaming of a beachside bolt-hole. Red, white and blue with a view

I'm real estate stalking today in the Byron Bay hinterland. I think the township of Federal perched high above the New South Wales coastline is just a hop skip and jump away from heaven. How about this renovated Queenslander-style home? Modern touches opening it up to the great outdoors and a colour scheme that isn't a patriotic cliché. Pool's pretty cool too but you'll find me on the verandah sipping a glass of white wine at the end of the day. Link here while it lasts.
