Monday's pets on furniture - part 1

If you'd like to send us photos to include in next week's "pets on furniture" post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so both pet and furniture takes center stage. (Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture...and your pet happens to be sitting on it). And second, the photo must be of decent quality. For example, if it's REALLY dark or fuzzy (camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.com)

"Just wanted to share two pics with you...One of the cat on a rainy day and the second of Chili Pepper the dog... We have a little round table behind the sofa where we eat and she always sits just like this hopin' and prayin' we send a tidbit her way."
- Jennie

"My best friend Rasmus in the Ikea chair. Or, the cat chair ;)
This cat, Ippi does not fit so wel in the chair but she loves it ;)
The cat Ippi loved to sleep under the old oven...One day we got a new oven.... Sorry Ippi, you cant stay there....
"
- GundaM

"i just thought the pets on furniture feature was too cute, so here is a pic of my italian greyhound, pelle. she has a tendency to climb all over everything and everyone in our apartment... and always gets away with it."
- Kareena

"Nessie is always on some piece of furniture, she definitely thinks she's human."
- Rena

"Nixon, chillin like it's his job. Anything to have his head up. This guy totally owns the place- who could tell this face no."
- Cara

"Greetings from Singapore! I have attached pictures of my cat, Pinky, atop my SMEG fridge. Pinky's really a he, even though his name suggests otherwise. He was so small when we found him and he had such a thin coat that his pink skin was showing. 'Pinky' therefore seemed appropriate at the time. Pinky's no sissy though and he sure makes a point of that, with his penchant for jumping atop fridges and bouncing off walls."
- Michelle

"Our 80 lb dog, Joey, basically rules the couch. He occasionally lets us have a tiny spot too, but only if we are prepared to love on him!"
- Sabrina

"I know you have already shown him....on a chair...But he just keeps doing it, and worse...kicking santa off. Dayum!"
- Linda

"This is my little man, Osker, who is usually the 'good kitty' in comparison to his devilish and destructive sister. I've recently discovered that he is the reason nothing grows in my window planter, a mystery that had confounded me until I caught him lounging on it in the sun."
- Laura

"This is the beautiful Minke on one of my gorgeous Nicola Cerini cushions."
- Miranda

"A quick snapshot of my new puppy decked out in holiday garb, lounging (more like paralyzed with embarrassment) on the couch, and my coat and hat for that matter."
- Nicole

"Charlie thinks he's a lap dog. Clearly he's not, but we let him believe what e wants if it keeps him so snuggly!"
- Jordan

"Babette was an ugly dog (but what personality). I took a lot of pictures of her sleeping, as that was when she looked best, and, what she did best. I miss her now.
P.S. the colorful letter and number magnets on the fridge are so high in this picture, because she would take them off and hide them if they were lower.
"
- Priscilla

"I adore this photo of my big orange tabby cat, Ziggy, atop his favorite polka dot chair. When he saw me approaching with the camera he hunkered down and began digging his claws into the upholstery, as if to dare me to try taking his seat."
- Laura

"1. Whippet Slim knows were to plant her skinny bones....on the best throw in the house.
2. The family of tired pets.
"
- Scotti

"I think it is safe to say Jefferson truly enjoys lounging around... he feels extremely comfortable in our home, no shame in showing a tummy you worked hard to achieve right?"
- Lindsey

"I have two cats who have free reign of my home and my furniture. The white Persian is Leo. He's sitting on my white Parson's-style dining table, his regular sunny perch. Claude is the strawberry blonde tabby. He's a naughty French schoolboy who likes to play his accordion in the subway. :) He is laying in my bed with my favorite vintage pillow from the 70's as his headboard."
- Dana Joy

"I'm sending you a picture of my favourite cat, who unfortunately isn't mine. Linus belongs to my friend Dena, and I pretend to visit her when in reality I'm just hoping to catch some cuddles from Linus. As you can see from the photo, he's an independant soul who thinks nothing of climbing into and on top of all manner of furniture. He has some very cool mid-century modern furniture in his home, but this past Thanksgiving he decided to indulge his bohemian side by hanging out in this side table while we cleaned up. Linus is such a helpful boy."
- Margaret

"This is our puppy (okay, he's seven now, but he'll always be a puppy to us) Coach squashing the cushion of our Pottery Barn sectional in our family room. So naughty — but too cute to resist!"
- Mackenzie

"This is Buddha in a handmade bowl. It was a Christmas gift he quickly found it under the tree! Hope your holidays are just as cozy!"
- Sue

"I walked in and found Cooper, our Jack Russell Terrier asleep on our bed the other day - even though he knows he shouldn't be...  he was so exhausted after a morning at the park catching the frisbee, he lifted his head, looked at me, and then went back to sleep.  I couldn't resist letting him lay there just so I could take his photo."
- Kate

"This is our sweet little Sadie...a surprise for our mom on her birthday!  This was her first night with us before her "unveiling" and she just hoped up and made herself right at home on my ottoman...a favorite find from Craigslist!"
- Shae

"Here are some pictures of our baby cat June. We have plenty of pictures but we try to focuse on the ones on furniture. I know theses are not great pieces of furniture but well they are funny."
- Séverine

"This is Reese.  She is lounging on my boyfriend's love seat... easily taking up half of it.  This look is the 'please don't make me move so you can actually sit here' look."
- Jenn

"I love your pets on furniture every Monday. Ya gotta smile. Here are some spoiled pets in our family for your consideration.
First image: These are my sister-in-law’s pets and they rule the house.  If you want a comfy seat in the family room, you have to move one of the canine family members – or become part of their zen-like mosh pit.
Second image: Our 3-year-old mini-Schnauzer, Riley, loves relaxing on leather with plenty of pillows.
Third image: A leather chair, plaid blanket and favorite stuffed toy make winter power naps supreme – but PLEASE, no camera flash!
"
- Terri

"That's Slinky, the smallest of our three cats, curled up on one of two chairs I got from the public school book depository - $4 each!"
- Samantha
(Kim's note: I was poking around Samantha's Flickr stream and found the second photo of her cat Penn that I had to use because he is SO CUTE and I love the chair. Hope you don't mind Samantha!)

"Chii has taken to sunning herself in this wacky patterned chair and leaves behind big tufts of her white fur. However, I don't hear of her new pal complaining about a little hair..."
- Amanda

"Max is a year old maltipoo who has charmed the entire family! A great friend for our 2 year old Labradoodle."
- Teri

"Charleston the Wheaten Terrier is sitting on our (his) favorite chair.  He likes it so much that he chewed the arm while waiting for us to come home one day.  He often sits on this chair and stares out the window until he's too tired to sit up anymore."
- Kaneil

"This is Zoe. She's probably the most photographed pet in the history of pets. I tried to get her to sit in the Wassily chair, but she wasn't having it."
- Stephanie

"Our cat Daphne is not content to sit on the floor when we're sitting at the table. Instead she likes to be part of things on her own chair. The only catch is that she won't jump up unbidden. This is a cat who requires an engraved invitation in the form of much patting of the chair and encouragement from us.
I couldn't resist also sending you this one. Whenever we put the futon down in our guest room/office and prepare it for a guest, Daphne decides that we've made it up for her and promptly props herself up - like a human - against the pillows. We have several different photos of her in these sorts of positions on the futon. We call them her boudoir shots.
"
- Tammy

"This is Music. She loves sleeping on the Ghost chair, especially when the fleece is removed. I suppose the cool plastic surface has a way with her."
- Adrien

"That's my beloved Viszla Tibor. He passed away Jan 1 of this year. He was a notorious furniture lounger, and was a flexible as a piece of over-cooked pasta. My friend Amy keeps on telling me that I should send you a pic of him, because he was so ridiculous."
- Kathi

"My 2 year old beagle, Hiro, loves to take over my spot when I take a break from the work desk. He would get comfy and sometimes fall asleep on the arm rest."
- Vera

"Here is a picture of our cat Senator Pickle. Also known as the esteemed Senator Pickle from the State of Litter Box. He is a fat cat trapped in a skinny cats body (he is obsessed with food). He can also destroy a roll of toilet paper in mere seconds by using his teeth and back claws. We got him from the SPCA and adore him...& he tolerates us since we feed him."
- Erin & Paul

"Here’s my wonderful Lab mix Lucy. She’s too cute to scold when she’s up on the furniture."
- Sarah

"Thought you might enjoy this photo of my terrier, Olive in our cabinet..."
- Kate

Since we didn't get a ton of photos this week, I thought I'd add one of my own. This is a photo of my cat #7, Edgar, on my DIY sofa with Cheeks in the background. The 2 of them are my old boys, and have spent every waking moment in the past week on those blankets. Big babies.

"This is our family Shih Tzu, Coconut, propped on grandma's couch in her sitting room. One of the few times you won't see her in someone's arms. They work well together, don't you think?"
- Nicole

"I wanted to send along a photo of my little one - Javier Mascherano (my husband's a big, big Liverpool football fan). Javier (a pug/beagle mix) has been such a naughty little climbing monkey these days, constantly climbing on laps, sofas and even the mantle! (OK, he had a little help with that one...)"
- Sharalee

"I saw the pics of cat on chair etc..it's why I hope you'll like my cat Keshi on my old orange EMU i did in pink now."

- Keith-yin

"I have been reading your blog for ages now, and I am a true fan of "Pets on furniture". So now I finally decided to send you a mail with pictures of the two most adorable dogs! First, meet Cindy. She is a 4 year old wirehaired dachshund. She lives with my brother, his fiancé and their little daughter. And her favorite spot at the time is in the firewood basket on top of a fluffy carpet. Since the new baby came there is not room for Cindy on the couch anymore, and this is the nearest she'll get :) She LOVES it in there! And then you can meet the love of my life, Lilo. She is a 2 1/2 year old Staffordshire bull terrier. The most loving, cuddling and big hearted dog there is! You will never meet a dog quite like her<3 She unfortunately does not live me anymore, but there isn't a day when I don't think about her! On the first picture with her ears up she is just "chillin" on the couch - that she is not allowed to be on - while I am in the other room. Picture two; baby gets busted and puts her cute face on."
- Caroline

"This is my smooth English cream mini dachshund Shira, who was raised with our cats and has some identity issues - and her son Frisco, who seems to understand the purpose of a sofa better than his mom does!"
- Clarice

"About an hour after my gorgeous new wingback chair was delivered, Olivia staked her claim to it."
- Averill

"My photo is of our recent addition to the household, Dangercat. A neighborhood stray who decided to stay since he matched the decor."
- Sandi

"I love this concept, so thought I'd share a few of my own photos. Here's a few pics of my terrier mutt Sherlock, on various pieces of furniture he has commandeered around the apartment."
- Nina

"I have one more 'pets on furniture' submission for your consideration. Whenever we go to my aunts farm, there is yet another cat in the house.  This was one of the first times I'd met Ginger, camouflaged in her natural environment."
- Matt

"After testing all the various spots, Robbie has chosen his optimum sleeping spot."
- Susan

(Photos can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.com) **NOTE: I will be out of town from Thursday to Monday so there won't be a pet post next week but feel free to send along entries for the following week's post.

"My boyfriend Charles Brill and myself have a gorgeous 5 month old ragdoll kitty named Larry David.  We have taken a bunch of pictures I hope you will find fit in your pets on furniture post.  Just to mention, the chair and the bed in the pictures were made by Charlie who is 1/3 of the design group rich, brilliant, willing (www.richbrilliantwilling.com) - you may have seen their stuff around."
- Merrill

"From the city of Philadelphia I am sending you this picture of our Miniature Schnauzer, Owen on our new Saarinen table.  He has been scratching at me all day to get up on it.  So I finally let him up and of course he posed for this adorable picture."
- Gretchen

"My little chi-weenie dog Chuy climbs up on the throw pillows on any sofa and sleeps there, he's a little old man-13- so we just let him. My husbands cat-Tommy- is huge (no, not fat, hairy and really big)and lounges where ever he wants to."
- Lorijo

"I miss Tique like hell, she went to doggy heaven last week. She was my cuddle parther for 13 years, and she loved to make herself comfortable all over the house - much to decorator-mom's dismay."
- Krista

"I would love to post this picture of my big boy Copper (he is a Goldendoodle) on a chair that was my Grandmothers.  It is a chair carved out of the trunk of a tree.  It is such a cool piece!  He fits just perfect in it and he loves to sit in it and look out the window."
- Kristen

"Here's my pomeranian Luna doing what she does best, posing pretty for the camera!"
- Kristen

"Here is a picture of my parent's dog, kioshi, on our sofa. we were pet sitting him and this was his spot."
- Brandi

"The file attached is a picture of my dog liz lu on a chair she isn't allowed on but she loves it so much, that when's my mum isn't here she sleeps on it all day! she is an amazing dog and likes to watch the world go by from this spot."
- Amy

"Smokey was reunited with her throne after 5 years.  She took to it quickly."
- Matt

"Here's a picture of my step-cat Special getting the footstool I had just reupholstered nice and furry. (The stool fabric is from ikea and the cushion covers on the chair are fr west elm)."
- Krista

"Attached are two pics of our long-haired dachshund, Zuzu. When she's not being a tumor and following us all around the house, she's hanging out on the couch. She always seems to be posing, ready for her close-up. We call the second one her sorority pose!" ....
Thought I'd send one more pic for your amusement.  When she's had enough of my wife and I, she'll go into "her room," which is really just the space beneath the couch, for some privacy.  Not knowing how long she is, she always leaves her back legs and tail sticking out!  We have to pretend we don't know where she is :)
- Peter

"All our furniture pretty much belongs to our pitbull and two cats - we humans just have to squeeze in around them."
- Noe

"This is my car Trevurr basking in the afternoon sun! - how could I not submit for the Pets on Furniture post!!"
- Camilla
