Monday's pets on furniture

If you'd like to send us photos to include in next week's "pets on furniture" post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so both pet and furniture takes center stage. (Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture...and your pet happens to be sitting on it). And second, the photo must be of decent quality. For example, if it's REALLY dark or fuzzy (camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.com)

"We just got a new pup and he immediately turned our favorite chair into his favorite dog bed. :)"
- Adam

"I have a fantastic picture of my frenchie sitting on the sofa that I would like to submit to you. This is Macbeth and he always sits on the back of the sofa this way."
- Lalaina

"I'd love to submit a pic of my dog Mabel for this! It's actually the blog header for my site Mabel's House."
- Liz

"Here are some photos for your "Pets on Furniture" feature, featuring my tabby Maximum! Max, in my built in bookcase, in my apartment in Paris, Max, at the piano.... he's taking requests!!, Max, in my drawing table."
- Maral

"My great beagle Oro. Since I left him with my sister for few days he's fallen in love with this armchair. He's still waiting for the oportunity to jump on it when we can't see."
- Olemkaa

"Do you count outdoor furniture? I attached a few. The first one is Lane on the left, and Sophie on the right. 2nd is a close up of Lane, ad 3rd close up of Sophie. The 4th one is another with both. Whippets enjoy sleeping on furniture, so when we hang outside on the deck, they use the lounge chairs."
- Sarah

"I love the concept of 'Pets On Furniture' - they are two entities that always seem to be in contention (as you can tell from the photo our couch). Here are two photos of Sol looking princely on our couch, taken during and after his bath."
- Alisa

"dog on couch ... stella"
- Stephanie

We had much fewer submissions for today's pets on furniture than we've had in the past and as I result I am adding a few more entries. The following came from the comments in Apartment Therapy's recent plug of our Pets on furniture posts.

"technically he isn't ON the furniture... but he is snuggly as hell."
- photoatonic

"Spanky the dog, with a kitty in the background on the french daybed. Cuteness personified! (Okay, I'm a little biased.) "
- juliesroom

"where are the big dogs?! i guess my furniture is pretty shabby."
- mattiemay

Monday's pets on furniture - part 2

"Here is a picture of our beloved lab Georgia. Great spot for her to lounge as she has a direct view into the kitchen (obsessed with food) and also the front door, should anyone come to visit (thinks anyone who knocks is there to see her).
- The Kosman's from Reno

"I work at Osborne & Little in the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles, and occasionally my little pup, Lily Bean comes to visit. She has a favorite spot on the Designers Guild sofa."
- Kathryn

"This is Buddy, my 6 year old English bulldog on my brand new recliner. He always has to have the best seat in the house."
- Irene

"This is my Sam, first looking terribly guilty and then assuming his favorite position to peer out the window."
- Evelyn

"I attached a photo of my triple purring siamese cats. Emily, Evita and Yoko are lying on a original purple 70ies chair with a green danish cushion (BoConcept). Unfortunately I do not have a better picture of the chair (I confess I was a little more focussed on the cats ;-) But I really like the colours in the photo."
- Patricia

"as a longtime reader and fan i thought it time to submit nicolas b.b. to your monday pets on furniture series. here is nicolas in all his beefy glory 'laxing on my bed."
- Jenny

"This is Louis my 12 year old cat on a chair, he likes to be in a photo, isn't he gorgeous? and this is Jeff, he is Louis's twin brother."
- Olivia

"Attached are pictures of my cat, Fat Albert. He is a super-old rescue kitty who has slight limp which we call his “pimp walk,” and only one kidney after a bout with cancer a few years ago. He is living out the lives he has left on our Rice sofa, which we recently inherited from my grandmother."
- Becca

"Every Monday I look forward to a new Pets on Furniture, and I couldn't wait to get a great picture of my tuxedo cats to submit! Sebastian-on the left, and Miles-on the right, are my handsome, loving cats who enjoy lounging all day around the apartment together. Here they are on our bed, where they always are when I get home from work everyday."
- Loryn

"It is forbidden for my greyhounds to get on the furniture, however...this is Virgil, the greyhound for whom I am babysitting while his parents are vacationing in Italy. Virgil is healing from a skin condition (note the cone) and has been by my side all day everyday. I did not hear him get up on this chair in my studio while I was working away on the computer. I just turned around and discovered him napping in the cozy chair and didn't have the heart to make him get off."

"My 4 legged babies here- Gizmo, Bogs and my orange thrift sale lounge chair! Bogs is an Australian Shepherd. Very smart- loves to learn and hang out with the humans :-). He actually learned how to open the door (the long handle pushes down to open and the door opens out ) so now we have to keep it locked! I just love him! Gizmo the cat is not as fond of him  as you can see."
- Kristen

"We would like to submit this image of our darling Serif to your Monday Pet's on Furniture series. Here is a link to a short, fun video of him goofing around"
- Andrea & Daniel

"I'm not sure if there's enough furniture here to qualify, but...This is my cat Bowie. He usually picks one place in the house to lay for a couple weeks before finding another spot and so on and so on. These are some pictures from the time when he was really into sleeping on the dining room chairs."
-
Cheryl

"I've attached a picture here of our miniature dachshund, Otis. He loves sitting on our laps most of the time...but here, he is modeling a sweater that I knit for him recently. He was a good sport for a little while...but eventually, he rolled around on the floor, trying to chew the sweater to shreds."
- Michelle

"I've been following your blog for a while now and I absolutely love the Pets on Furniture Mondays. I got my sweet little girl, Isis, back after having left her with my boyfriends parents in Germany until we settled in Tbilisi, Georgia. As soon as she entered the apartment, she made herself comfortable. I found her resting on one of the couches, in her favorite position just a few hours after arrival."
- Karina

"This is Moses, relaxing on his couch."
- Roger

"Here is a link to my picture of Pearl, my greyhound, in her favorite spot on the couch (with velvet pillows!)"
- Susie

"Here is Samba on a beautiful armchair we bought in Argentina years ago for 250 pesos that is now redone, at the time it was the most fancy dog basket... Also our cat Pablo is taking water from the fishbowl under the japanese roll."
- Magali

"I was photographing my just-done guest bedroom today & Pepper decided to ‘help’ (as in, refused to get out of the way of the camera). She ruined a good number of shots, but a couple of them turned out pretty darn adorable if I do say so myself."
- Tess

"i love your weekly posts on pets! thought i'd share a few of my little terrier, max :)
- the first set was taken at our house. max spends a lot of time looking out the window and on many occasions, gets quite excited about what he sees! he's literally on the edge of his seat :)

"Here are a few pictures of my cats, Caleb (brown tabby) and Squirt (white and gray). They are not siblings but as you can see they do take care of each other. Catching them snuggling like this on my living room chair always melts my heart. The chair is from Anthropologie--a big splurge. I bought the pillow cover in Morocco."
- Heather

"I woke up this morning to find Bella the cat (aka Bellarina, Bell Bells, Bella Fontae) on this armchair in our bedroom. Bella woke up as I was taking the photo and promptly got up and left - oops!"
- Julie

"I thought I would submit a picture of my sister's english bulldog, Clarence. He might be the dumbest dog I know, but the joy he brings makes up for it!"
- Candace

"My name is Amanda Powell from Huntsville, Alabama. Your blog is a must read, and I love the "Pet's on Furniture" post you feature every Monday. Since you've started it, I've been desperately trying to get a picture of my sassy Marie on our leather couch. This has proved quite a task since she is never still and always into something. Today she sat, for the first time, and did not move until I took the picture. Hope you enjoy my little beauty! PS: don't be fooled by her expression, she is very mischievous :)"

"Here are a few pictures of my cats Nanook and Romy hanging out around our home."
- Cheryl

"I read your blog daily and I look forward to every week's Pets on Furniture. Please consider one of these photos for next week. Thanks and Happy Halloween. Oh and the tapestry in the background is from Urban Outfitters."
- Selena

"Finally I decided to send a picture of Bianca, my dad's doggy. As you see, she has her own space on the sofa... seems that she really does like it. (I'm from Spain. The house is in the Canary Islands.)"
- Natalie

"I love to see all of your featured pets and I would like to include a photo of my Shi Apso, Picaboo. Picaboo loves to cuddle on piece of furniture he can find. Here is a shot from Christmas 2007."
- Carole

"Oh how I've tried to resist sending in photos of my pets for Monday's Pets on Furniture entry! I've admired all of the other fabulous submissions and finally cannot hold out anymore! Please find the following photos for your consideration. Pinball (grey cat) is 12, Colonel Forbin (orange cat) is 10, and Cedar (dog) is 10. They are constantly taking over the couch! (I also should say that I grew up with 6 cats and I am trying my hardest to get my husband to let me adopt more.)"
- Wendy

"I send you my picture of my cat Musetta and the ikea vase...designed by hella jongerius for IKEA PS"
- Dana (Italy)

"I send you photos of my dog Argos, who is a Golden Retriever. He is 2 years old. Argos is actually very active dog, who loves to play around, run and swim a lot. He loves water. But at home, he just wants to relax and to be lazy. He hates lying on the floor, so whenever the situation allows or when me and my husband are not watching, he climbs up on the couch."
- Zola

"This is Maya, I recently painted and recovered this telephone table and it has become a great place for Maya to sit and wait for me to get home. She has added her personal touch by clawing up the covered chair pad."
- Stacey

Monday's pets on furniture - part 1

If you'd like to send us photos to include in next week's "pets on furniture" post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so both pet and furniture takes center stage. For example, if it's REALLY dark or fuzzy (camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks!

Due to the amount of entries we received in the past week, I had to split them up into 2 posts, so stay tuned later for more cuties!

"Siler is not even allowed on the furniture at home, but at my studio/printshop, all bets are off. After all, I did name my letterpress business after her! {photo by Julia Vandenoever}"
- Allison

"I loved the 'Pets on Furniture' post today so much I just had to join in! I attached a photo of our new puppy Gertrude and our two cats Hamlet and Norton!"
- Ashley

"Meet Charlie – He is a 3 year old great dane who we fostered for a few months. He never knew his own size and would try to even get on our laps… and he loves his blankets! Drake and Scooter – These two are like two peas in a pod. They not only love playing together but they sleep together too! The fourth picture is just of Scooter."
- Danielle

"Here is a picture of Jasper, a 2 year old Italian Greyhound (who we adopted just yesterday!) on my favourite $5 chair. The chair was brown with grime when I found it but I love how it's scrubbed up."
- Evie

"This is Ringo on our vintage Danish sofabed with her brothers, a couple vintage Teddies."
- Keith & Judi

"Introducing Bobo, master furniture warmer."
- Michael

"I just wanted to submit this picture of my cats, Olly and Katie, reclining on our outdoor dinner table. They love using this table for sunbathing, stretching or just keeping an eye on all of us! I'm sorry to say I don't have another picture with more of the table in it.. My mom (who took this picture) meant to capture the two cats close up and so the focus is more on them (as it probably should be :D)...your Pets on Furniture series never fails to make my day, especially since going away to college has left me with a severe lack of feline loving!"
- Anne

"Sadie is on the left, and Dixie on the right. Our two Husky Mix girls really light up our lives! Here is one of their very favorite positions!!! Perfect view out the window!! These pictures were taken the first weekend we adopted Sadie, 2 days before Christmas! She was about 9 months old, rescued from a nearby shelter. Sadie was a bit shy at first, but as you can see, quickly made herself right at home on our furniture :)"
- LaVonne

"Attached is a pic of my terrier mutt, Higgins. He is an expert napper and coordinates well with my mostly black and white decor. Here is is on our ottoman."
- Courtney

"My sweet Weezie is a year old! Here she is in my office waiting for her mom to finish with patients. I redid my office this year and was inspired by many posts from this blog. Thanks so much for the inspiration."
- Donna

"Just found your site and love it. Attached is my Cat Keisha who enjoys sitting on the placemats on the table."
- Karen

"If you are able to see past all the red in this very old photo you can see my beloved whippet Tigger dying to get at Mr. Peacock! Now many years later her new mission in life is to make life miserable for a cat living under my deck even though she has already had a scratched nose!"
- Nancy
