House of Mirrors

Mirrors. They reflect light. They increase the sense of space in a room. They can mess with your mind ... in a good way in the case of the "invisible" pillar in this top floor apartment in Plaça Catalunya in the centre of Barcelona. The renovation by Nook Architects uses "contemporary and warm finishes (to) highlight the original envelope, which is only altered to bring back a spirit more honest to the building’s tectonics and to allow it to evolve to today’s standard of comfort and living style." In other words stylish modern living in an amazing old building in a great location. Perfect.

Dark side

My love for British kitchen designers deVOL is no secret. It's no surprise that I'm smitten by their latest design for this Petersham cottage. Dark, atmospheric, almost other worldly, memorable.

Stalking in Sydney 1

Today I'm stalking two apartments in Sydney. The first, in the suburb of Alexandria, is in an award-winning block designed by SJB Architects. Quite honestly I want to move right in but only if they throw the furniture and art in as well ;) Love the detail in the countertop and splashback in the kitchen, love how there is a cupboard for everything and how the master bedroom opens right up to the terrace. Now I just have to find the $1.6 million. Link here while it lasts.

Glebe House Tour 2017 - House #2 part 2

Continuing the house tour from my last post, here is the rear of the home on the main floor, including the kitchen that I fell in love with.

Through the cut-out from the dining room a beautiful piece of glass becomes a shelf. Carol wants to find a very tall glass vase to display here but in the meantime she uses it to display a vase she brought back from a trip to Sweden.

A cool, modern piece of art leads you into the kitchen. This is by Maryann Camps depicting Rideau Street at night.

AH! This kitchen is like a breath of fresh air. Modern, simple and perfect. Maybe it's because I am super frustrated with my tiny, dysfunctional kitchen but I wanted to give this space a big hug and never leave. Details, details, details! Just on the right of the photo above you'll see a Kartell step-ladder. Made of polycarbonnate, it was chosed to just blend into the wall. It is so fabulous though I personally would have bought it in orange/red and made it a feature, and now I want one badly.

Kitchen, lounge and bathroom beauties

I am smitten over these kitchen, lounge and bathroom spaces also by Sims Dilditch and had to share.
