Stalking old school

I'm in the Sydney suburb of Annandale stalking an old school warehouse conversion. Not one of those new-build, pseudo industrial blocks with cookie cutter "loft" apartments. No I'm stalking an artist's studio and home with suspended concrete, open ceilings and clear span space. There are mezzanine floors, plywood walls, a glass tilt door and walls crammed with amazing art. It's a bit gritty, a bit grubby and it's fabulous. Please Mr Bank Manager can you lend me the outrageous asking price of $3.5 million? Link here while it lasts.

(P.S. Thanks to my stalking buddy Anne for the link.)

A cabin with river views

The best little weekend getaway is right here in Olympic Peninsula, Washington with views of the Sol Duc River. The design of this cabin by Tom Kundig is absolutely brilliant. This 350-square-foot cabin is a small perch for its occupant. It is located in one of the few temperate rainforests in the world, and "rainforest" here means wet and rather cold, as opposed to wet and hot. Putting the cabin on stilts protects it from the clammy dampness and occasional flooding. The owner is an avid steelhead fisherman. The design allows him and his wife to arrive at this remote location, open the place up, and get to fishing as quickly as possible. The shutters are operated manually via custom steel rods. The large panels slide on hardware that was originally designed for sliding barn doors, attached to the steel roof beam structure.

What? More stalking?

Stalking a warehouse down a private lane in Sydney's Waterloo. Industrial and a touch of Mediterranean. Check out the copper in the kitchen. Link here while it lasts.

Glasshouse Residence

Brisbane-based design firm Maytree Studios say they're humans first and architects second. Their emphasis on affordability, reuse and how people live and thrive within their designs is at the forefront of their Glasshouse Residence. Simple yet stylish, open-plan with an industrial vibe, warm and human-scale.

A charming 1860s loft

I continue to have a soft spot for lofts and this one with classic and feminine touches mixed with vintage industrial pieces make this so perfectly eclectic. And how freaking brilliant - a bank of Ikea cabinets installed console-style with an antique cupboard mixed in. Saving that one in my inspiration folder! By Houston, Texas based FOUND (a partnership between Ruth Davis and Aaron Rambo).
