In keeping with the theme of gothic industrial from my earlier post, I have had this photo stashed away for a while now and thought this was the perfect time to share it. This is a simple entrance to a home but I love the vibe here. Via Inside Out, photo by Chris Warnes.
Glam + gothic + industrial + loft = this amazing space in Los Angeles by BAM Design Lab (Barbie Palomino & Annie May). This loft is super sexy and grungy with some of the coolest wallpapers I have ever seen. I could totally live here as my city pad and then have a house in the country for all my lighter and brighter decor. Anyone else on the fence about all-over-tufted sofas? I love/hate/love/hate. But here it works so damn well.
A glimpse of a very contemporary addition to the side of the facade is a dead giveaway that this home in Melbourne's Fitzroy North is not what it seems from the street. I'm stalking an Edwardian era red brick home with a industrial modern extension. Love the play of the black steel against the brick and the monumental kitchen island with its rich green tiles and old timber beams. Link here while it lasts.
Though this home is not really furnished I had to share because I have been dreaming about living in a rough, industrial, loft-like home for at least the past 20 years. Nothing like this exists in Ottawa so I can keep dreaming but if someone has £1,995,000 and is looking for something in London to put your stamp on, scoop this one up! Never mind that it looks like rats were eating the kitchen cupboards, and the painted floorboards are a bit rough...this 3 bedroom, 2,000 sq ft over 4 floors conversion from furniture-restoration workshops built in 1905 has SUCH AMAZING BONES. Last week I featured this project by Sue Miller of Mad Cow Interiors. Of course her home is totally rad so I had to share it as well. Sue used reclaimed materials and up-cycling to create bespoke furniture, with a goal to create an industrial rough luxe theme, mixed with various mid century modern touches. Lots of dark walls, bold colour accents and patterns in fabrics and wallpaper are common to Sue's style and this is all prominent in her own home. So much fun and energy and creativity.
