Primitive modern, rustic industrial, whatever you want to call it this is an absolutely gorgeous house inside and out. And OMG it is next to a little lake, has a pool, silo, ancient barn, a golden retriever AND alpacas! *GASP!* Yep, everything I have ever wanted (throw in some cats tho') all wrapped up in a beautiful package. I am ending off the work week with a BANG with this absolute stunner. This 5 bedroom home in the Gloucestershire town of Stroud was originally built in the mid 1800's and was recently refurbished by designer Niki Turner. Originally a large cloth merchant’s villa (now divided into two semi-detached properties), this property is set in the countryside with gorgeous views and the mix of industrial and classic decor works so beautifully with the architectural details. There is a time and a place where classy, elegant decor is suitable. A BBQ restaurant definitively calls for something casual and I absolutely adore the vintage industrial vibe that interior designer Jordan Littler went with Red's True Barbecue in Sheffield, England.

On their seventh restaurant, Red's wanted to evolve the concept and introduce a neighbourhood feel that would connect with the people of Ecclesall Road in Sheffield. 120 covers spread over two floors, the design takes it's inspiration from Sheffield's strong musical heritage combined with the authentic atmosphere of Rainey Street in Austin, Texas, to create a house party vibe at your Grandmas house. A collection of junkyard trinkets decorate the glass fronted bar alongside delicate tiffany lights, frilly standing lamps and traditional rugs, all set off against a rough, unapologetic interior utilising Red's iconic batting cages and exposed lath walls. Our very own carefully curated teenage VHS collection was incorporated into the concealed door on the first floor connecting to the trippy, hallucinogenic corridor leading to the toilets. Yes it's true. The only way I can kickstart the working week is with a very (very) large cup of coffee. I find it works even better if there is a cool, slightly industrial looking coffee house/cafe involved. I'm such a tragic that I'm known to get to a cafe very early then take the time to sit and drink it all in for the hour before work. Now if I lived in Melbourne, in the suburb of Prahran, I think I would just have perch myself on a stool in Tall Timber with its design by architectural and interior design studio Therefore, coffee on one side real newspaper on the other.
Or should that be the skeleton on the ceiling? It may be the deal breaker if you want to come on my virtual getaway to this loft style apartment in Tribeca, New York which ticks all the boxes. Exposed brick walls, light streaming in the the tall windows, a mini jungle, curios on industrial style shelves, great kitchen ... and the skeleton above the dining table. I've been staring at it for ages trying to work out what the model is actually of. Ichthyosaur? Prehistoric razor toothed dolphin? A cousin of the Loch Ness Monster? It would certainly make for an interesting dinner party conversation. Franklin Place is available through onefinestay.
