Saturday drinks

Drinks tonight? I'd love to come but I can't. I have to work. You'll have a fab time at The Nelson. The fitout by Techné Architecture + Interior Design is so cool. Rustic meets maritime meets industrial, distressed and recycled. I'd call in sick to work but I'm the boss. Have a rum for me!

An apartment by General Assembly

I absolutely adore this Brooklyn apartment, designed by Sarah Lawlor Zames of General Assembly. After trying and failing to find an apartment with character, the owners of this space opted to combine two fairly lifeless new development apartments and renovate to perfectly suit their style. Bringing in as many natural materials as possible was important to these penthouse owners, so GA incorporated concrete wall and ceiling details, reclaimed wood floors, marble slabs in the shower and kitchen, and plenty of custom Walnut millwork. We designed steel and glass doors to divide public and private areas, and full height flush millwork doors to stretch the space upward.  This is a fantastic example of how to create a modern space that is comfortable and has personality. The wood flooring is an absolute dream, and is beautiful when combined with the marble and walnut. The southwestern vibe in the living room really works and the unexpected graphic wallpapers add some whimsy. I would not change a thing. Lucky owners! (photos by Joe Fletcher)

The marble against the walnut and matte black is stunning.

Working on a Saturday

Say it loud.
Say it clear.
Saturday at work?
I don't want to be here!

Unless of course it the workplace looks like this. If you have to go in go into something stylish. South Loft, an Auckland office for economists by Fearon Hay Architects.

Raw

I find raw, industrial spaces very inspiring. Location shoot venues are my favourites as they are typically filled with some of the most random bits of furniture and oddities (ie. a pommel horse, because you never know what type of photo shoot or movie might need that!). Shoot Factory has some of the most eclectic and quirky industrial spaces around so I went through their site and picked out some spaces that really stood out. Now I want to go thrifting!!

Yet another loft

To end off loft madness week (this was totally unplanned) I wanted to share this former warehouse with you (I think it is located in Montreal). This one has lots of great industrial touches - also with help from some exposed beams and ductwork and what appear to be original concrete floors. I would be perfectly happy living in a space like this. Via Decormag
