Week of stalking 7

Keep up. Keep up. Our real estate stalking tour is on the roll again. Crisp and fresh and bright and new all wrapped up in an historical Sydney terrace house. Casually elegant modern living in the inner city with open plan living/dining and a gourmet kitchen. Love the artwork, love the subdued colour palate with flashes of yellow. Want those kitchen lights. Unfortunately we are just a little too late to daydream about making this tailored terrace our home. It's sold. Link here while it lasts.

Civico Quattro

I couldn't leave it any longer to share more work from Civico Quattro's Orietta Marcon. A private home by this designer/stylist that carefully balances rustic charm and subtle elegance. Nothing is "precious". Where simple and everyday meets stylish and beautiful. To climb the stairs to that grey and white haven under the eaves would be such a wonderful way to end each day.

Paul Bernier +1

A second look at Canadian architect Paul Bernier. A departure from his timber boxes with voids and perforated floors climbing up like treehouses, this home sits solidly in a grove, its stone walls anchoring it firmly to the earth. The monotonal greys are reminiscent of Belgian interiors, clean lined and spare but with a modern, contemporary feel. As striking as this house looks in its wintery setting I cannot help imagining how different it will be when the trees are green and leafy. A cool retreat in the forest.

Grey

In a departure from his signature highly decorative Hollywood Regency/ midcentury glamor style leading Australian interior designer Greg Natale has taken a inner city terrace, played with scale and colour, streamlined his rich multilayered interiors and delivered a home that is dramatic and stylish. Sultry grey is lifted by white. Furniture is carefully curated and oversize is not out of place in the play. In the new extension kitchen and family room are open plan and sleekly modern, the perfect counterfoil to the high drama of the rest of the house. A grey beauty indeed.

Stalking the old with the new

Today's second real estate stalking finds me pounding the virtual pavements of Armadale, Melbourne. A renovation and extension of a Tudor style period house has caught me eye. From its dark exterior and stylish garden to the sophisticated open plan living. Glass gym in the backyard anyone? Perhaps watching TV in the media room from the pool? I would love to see this home photographed sympathetically. Please, please, pretty please professional real estate photographers in Australia stop with the HDR over tweaked photos. We get it. You want a dramatic effect but it's like bad cosmetic surgery ... fake and unattractive. Link here while it lasts.
