A second look at Canadian architect Paul Bernier. A departure from his timber boxes with voids and perforated floors climbing up like treehouses, this home sits solidly in a grove, its stone walls anchoring it firmly to the earth. The monotonal greys are reminiscent of Belgian interiors, clean lined and spare but with a modern, contemporary feel. As striking as this house looks in its wintery setting I cannot help imagining how different it will be when the trees are green and leafy. A cool retreat in the forest.

I absolutely love this house, and everything in it. I'd want the gas stove low to the floor, and a fluffy carpet in front of it to wallow on, but other than that, it is much ready to go! Hate to think of the heating bill though. Oh, but the beauty! Did anyone notice how the couch matches the trees outside? Yes, I too wonder what it would look like in the summer. Just amazing. I want it!
Oh, here's a ps, I don't like that creepy little boy face in the first picture. And as far as I can tell, it's in the bedroom!
Shelley, I had the same thought about the fireplace- how I'd like it closer to the floor.
But, yes. The lines, proportion and textures are beautiful.
