A love letter

Dear Simpson Jacoby Architecture,

I just wanted to pen a short note to let you know how much I love your work on this old house. Sympathetic, stylish, simple and soft. Love the colour palette, the whitewashed floors, the kitchen and the restored, sinuous stairs rising to that dark and moody studio office. Love how your client has filled it gently and thoughtfully with their possessions and how you knew it would be just so. Love it all.

Regards,

Jo

A masculine penthouse

I am bringing the work week to a close with this beauty I found by interior designer Sayre Victoria Ziskin of SVZ. It has masculine vibe with blue and black accent colours and some hard edges and industrial furnishings, but then throw in an overly (in a good way) tufted velvety sofa and the vibe becomes just a bit more feminine and playful. Overall this home is cohesive and edgy and I love it - especially all the plants, my favourite addition to a room. And check out the amazing planter in the corner of the dining room!

High House

It may only be 5 metres wide but as the architectural firm Dan Gayfer Design explains it's all about "... a high level of functionality, flexibility, interaction and detail in a house with high ceilings, a high roofline and high levels of natural light." It's also high on style. The perfect partnering of spatial design and good looks. What can I say. It really is a High House.

Maximalist

So much to see. So much to touch, to turn over, to stroke. I would be the most rude of guests fidgeting in my seat, jumping up to flick through a book, pick up a trinket, open a box, to take in the beauty. Somehow I don't think the owner of this Birmingham, Alabama home, interior designer, artist and neo-traditionalist William McLure would mind too much. I think maximalists love to display their treasures and to have others secretly covet them. I know I do ;)

Simply lovely

The serenely beautiful, plant filled house shared by Kim on Sunday (here ... swoon) belongs to stylist and art director Liza Giles and her architect husband. It's easy to see that she worked for Designers Guild for many years. That lovely green, the freshness, the botanicals. I couldn't help myself. I had to share a little more of her work with Tricia Guild. Simply lovely.
