I am not sure how Los Angeles based interior designer Bryan Wark managed to mix mid-century and boho and glam elements together to create such an awesome vibe but he did and I LOVE it. This home is stunning and OMG look at all those massive windows! It's so bright and easy on the eye yet has some fabulous statement pieces for some BLAM.
It has been a while since I got around to decorating my guest bedroom and I finally found some time to snap some photos so I can share it with you. This room is annoyingly small (10'x8.5') so it fits nothing really but our old queen size bed and a couple of small furniture items. I am tempted to do what the next door neighbours did and rip out the wall between it and the master bedroom and make an ensuite....maybe one day when I win the lottery. In the meantime if anyone wants to stay over, we have a proper bedroom setup which we did not have in our tiny previous 2 bedroom (1 bedroom plus dressing room/closet) house. As for the decor, after working on most of the other rooms in the house I came to realize that I had a bunch of things I had carted back with me from one of my many winter vacations in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico that did not have homes. Thus resulting in this Mexican theme space! At the end of the post I will list sources, but just about all of it are Mexico mementos. This room was a great excuse to try one of the new Farrow & ball colours - Inchyra Blue which I used on the ceiling and opposing walls to create a canopy effect. I LOVE this incredible blue/teal/grey shade and how cocooning painting those 3 walls are without going dark all over (I have enough dark rooms in this house already). I highly recommend this colour for anyone looking for something unique that is dark but not too dark. And as I have come to expect from F&B colours, it has chameleon tendencies and changes drastically depending on the amount of light.
I stumbled upon a project by Australian interior designer Greg Natale that we appear to have never featured before, which is crazy since we have been obsessed with his work since for the past 10 years (or more If Jo knew him before we started this blog). Maybe it's because we typically die over his typical glamourous, Hollywood Regency projects...and this one is far from that but I'm kind of dying over it just the same. Only Greg could make nautical/New England style this freaking fabulous. I want to be a guest in this guest house - and move right in! From its navy plaids and stripes to its walnut-hued timbers and leathers, this Queenslander has been furnished in classic New England style to create the effect of a lavish country estate. Themed accessories and artworks, such as equine photos and sculptures, and grouped accoutrements, like a series of armorial engravings, contribute to the full, layered feel, while pieces blend Western styling with Eastern exoticism. A band of navy grasscloth wallpaper runs through the house, providing an eye-catching decorative feature but also linking rooms that have been differently configured as a result of the angled roofs.
Oh I do love an English kitchen. The wooden cabinets, in this case with a bold navy finish, the pantry cupboard, a big stove with a mantle. I love the amazing light flooding through the windows in this particular example and we don't need to mention the floors. It's not the first time I've had my head turned by Blakes London (you can see more posts here) and I'm sure it won't be the last.
Shades of blue, grey and white, sisal rugs, plants, bamboo, sailboats...something tells me New York City interior designer Matthew Caughy is inspired by all things beachy and nautical. This combination of elements makes for such soothing, timeless and casual spaces. Add in a vignette of vases filled with glorious white hydrangeas and I am smitten.
