Real estate stalking again

One of my favourite pastimes is checking real estate websites for houses I can't afford especially in my home of Brisbane. Here is another magnificent home, this time in Paddington an inner city suburb full of timber and iron houses from the 19th century. 360 degree views, 6 bedrooms, tennis, pool, 1500 bottle wine cellar. I wonder if all that wine is included in the not insignificant price? ($3.3 million AUD so I'd want the wine too.)

Hey that's my town!

I found another amazing Brisbane property for sale. A subpenthouse in a 70's highrise apartment block in riverside inner city New Farm. Does anyone else stalk the real estate websites looking at property they can't afford? Hey that's my town on the banks of a lazy brown river! And that's one hell of an apartment! Want to find this place? Just go to realestate.com.au. Click on Queensland. Type in New Farm. Select an obscene amount of money as a guideline and dream.

Graceful in Graceville

Things are quiet on the real estate front at the moment. The holiday period is always a difficult time to sell a house. Unless of course it is a stunning renovation of an old Queenslander house in the riverside suburb of Graceville. Lovely homes like these dot Brisbane and sometimes someone does something very special with them. I particularly like the separate modern studio/tv room. Built in 1886 and originally used by Cobb and Co. as a resting place for travellers on their way to the neighbouring town of Ipswich, it's typical of the Queenslander style with wide verandas, tongue and groove walls, criss cross bracing and high ceilings. I'm in love.

Moorish

Scott Weston shared with us images of his Moroccan interpretation for Vogue Australia editor Kirstie Clement here. Now he has sent us images of this Moorish beauty filled with all its treasures. The Sydney house is featured in this month's Vogue Living Australia and we have a sneek peak too of Scott and designer Gregory Phillip's minimalist Moroccan marvel. Photos by Nicolas Watt. Thanks Scott!

Inner city hip

This groovy warehouse-style home, built for living, entertaining and relaxing is a prime example of the medium density planning happening in my home town. In a quiet lane that's reminiscent of a country town - several new dwellings combined with lean-to sheds and empty clotheslines, its hard to believe you're in the inner city. Backyards are being subdivided and funky small living houses are sharing the streetscape with historic worker's cottages and bad 70s "6 pack" apartments. Apologies for the quality of the pictures. This house was borrowed from a real estate site.
