Jonny Valiant

Jonny Valiant is a photographer from Australia with an incredibly keen eye for creating beautiful photos. "Jonny indulges his 15-year passion for precision still-life photography and his love of interiors with a healthy voyeuristic obsession with exactly why people put the things in their houses that they do." He's contributed to magazines such as Australian Vogue, Vogue Living, Architectural Digest, Inside Out, Home Beautiful and InStyle. I love the eclectic style of the first group of photos, and how he has captured the mystery and personality of these spaces.

Queenslander with a twist

For those of you who don't know I live in the state of Queensland. The old timber and corrugated iron houses we love so much are known as Queenslanders. (No brainer that one.) This is a fabulous example of a modern yet sympathetic renovation of one of these inner city gems. Great ideas here. Lots of light and white as well as a handy pass through bench from the kitchen to the outdoor room. Brilliant glass shelves in the bathroom windows holding a bonsai collection, black and white photo bed head and a child friendly stylish but tiny backyard. The thing I love so much though is the outdoor fireplace allowing entertaining on the deck even during the cool but never really cold winters. Up for auction suggested over $900,000. (No sign of a housing bust here anytime soon.)

Lisa Cohen

Love the work of Aussie photographer Lisa Cohen. Lisa specialises in interiors, food, lifestyle and still life photography. Dividing her time between Australia, London and New York, she shoots for magazines such as Vogue Living, Donna Hay, Gourmet Traveller, and Real Simple. Love her still life work. Fabulous ideas for displaying your collections even the most humble. As you can see from her work Lisa can capture the beauty in even the most mundane.

Okay that was unfair of me!

The last post was just plain cruel! I shouldn't rub in the fact that I live in God's own country with the most beautiful beaches open to everyone and the most amazing climate. Sorry that it's freezing in your part of Canada Kim. Really I am. To make up for it I'll show you another house in Noosa. This is my dream house in the super rich playground. Think I have just enough money for a cappucino after a swim in the ocean and this will remain a daydream.

Come on in the water is fine!

Kim was only complaining ... sorry telling me the other day that it's snowing in Ottawa already. Here it's a balmy late spring. I thought I'd share a house in Noosa, a beautiful coastal tourist spot 2 hours drive north of Brisbane. Playground of the discreetly rich it is skirted by river, sea and national park. This house is typical of the Noosa style and of course the outdoor spaces play a major role

P.S. Check out the live beach cams on the Noosa Tourism website. Don't you hate snow.
