A new chapter

For those who don't know, I've been dating Jeff for quite a while now...we argue about how long it's been. Jeff says 8 years and I say this summer will be 10. We've talked about moving back in together (we lived in 4 different places together, the last of which was a home we owned together) and about getting married. Well, on Saturday we thought we'd go check out rings at an antique market and sure enough yesterday I came home with one.

I LOVE it - very deco in style and I love that's it unique. So it seems Jeff and I are officially FINALLY engaged and we are thinking about having a small casual wedding (perhaps a BBQ in my parents backyard this summer). Frankly big weddings scare me. Along with wedding plans, there will also be some more renovation projects around my house, and some will have to happen ASAP if Jeff and his 2 cats are going to fit in here. Yes folks, there will be NINE cats in this house. So stay tuned for lots of happenings over the next several months.

Congratulations, the ring is bee-utiful.
Re: the wedding. Think small because a wedding will snowball (even in summer, ha) and find a life of its own and double its size before you know it.

Congratulations Kim! The ring is gorgeous! A small wedding is the way to go. That's what we did two years ago. We live a block from Stanley Park in Vancouver, so we got married there with our 15 guests. Cost us nothing for the beautiful setting in the park. The reception was at our apt. And hubby, who is is a chef, did all the cooking!

Nine cats! :-)

Congratulations!!! And you have EXCEPTIONAL taste in jewelry!

ps: My hunny and I got engaged after 8 years of dating, too. There's something to be said for delayed gratification...

Congratulations! I got married in my parents yard with about 40 friends and family-totally recommend skipping the big wedding. We spent more on our honeymoon.
Your ring is stunning.

Thanks y'all!!

Kim - the Ottawa Antique market on Bank St. As soon as you walk in straight ahead is an jewelry dealer. She has incredible pieces.

I'm so pleased to hear all the comments on the ring - I had never really given any thought to the type of ring I wanted (besides wanting an antique) and this was the first ring I tried on. :-)

Hooray! I wish you both much love and happiness! I think you are meant for each other. How many couples can do such wonderful renovation together and share the love of animals. When I read your post on your site today I just had to click over. I KNEW what you were going to say. I agree about big weddings, they seem so pompous and like such a waste of money to me. Much better to have a small intimate gathering. Knowing you, it will be a stylish gathering. Maybe with lanterns, maybe you can wear a sari ..... anyway, looking forward to further news. Congratulations to you both.

:-) Thanks Peggy! I don't know about a sari, but I've been scouring Etsy for dresses for the past 3 days. SO FUN! And lanterns = YES!

Congratulations. We've been following Desire to Inspire for a few months already, and it's an inspiration to us. Now we feel part of the "family". So, we're very happy for you, for Jeff and for all your cats. Are you going to share your house renovation with all of us?
