Heaven

Heaven is dark and moody. No bright, white light. No pearly gates and fluffy clouds. No, it is an apartment in a Collingwood, Melbourne warehouse by Wolveridge Architects. Exposed brick, old timbers, leather, a slightly fussy wallpaper. Bliss. No, I mean heaven!

Carlos Motta

Carlos Motta is an architect and furniture maker from São Paulo, Brasil who is eco-conscious and clearly has a love for wood. WOOD WOOD WOOD. I don't think I've ever seen this much wood in one home. Too much? Maybe. What I wouldn't give to at least one wall in that wood. A great big wall.

Apartment 1511

I've got another small apartment for you designed by Brazilian architect Alan Chu and Cristiano Kato (see previously featured apartment here). This one has 2 of my favourite design elements - flat black and raw/rustic looking wood. And they work SO WELL together. The kitchen tile is very odd but it's growing on me - likely because it's such an unexpected element with the rest of the apartment. I could absolutely live here.

I want a barn with blue shutters

Sometimes I hate real estate stalking. Sometimes it just makes me mad. Mad with jealousy. I want a barn with blue shutters. Old timber and quaint doors and soaring ceilings and a big fire place. I want a claw foot bath and an old vintage sink. I want to live in a quaint country town in a street called Wombat. I want this barn .... full of all my things. Lend me some money please? Deceptively simple

Step inside this black clad house designed by Danish firm Wienberg Architects and you enter a still world, a series of spaces that are calm and zen like. A carefully curated collection of colour and materials, black and white, concrete and wood veneer, strokes the senses. Soft and hard, warm and stark. Beautiful details only emphasis the simplicity.
