  • Oh my, oh my, oh my. Kadri Jugandi emailed us about Transparent House San Francisco based 3D and visualization studio. "Transparent House team presents its vision of the classic flooring material - concrete. We've created a way to refine a popular element of contemporary interior design such as polished concrete flooring. The design concept allows for application of any pattern to the surface either when poring or afterwards when the concrete has set. The fine floral ornaments promotes the clean and simple character of the space while adding a touch of warm and live contrast and highlighting the cold austerity of the material. It is always exciting for us to share our finding and our vision with you." Gorgeous!!!! Want, need, must have. Thanks Kadri.

  • In recent months, ABC Home has been expanding its modern furniture collection to include “stores within stores” like Tom Dixon and Blu Dot. It will now be launching a new Herman Miller installation on May 15th called Herman Miller Environment. What’s exciting about this co-venture is that ABC Home have taken eight of their most popular silhouettes and upholstered them in fashion-forward fabrics from Maharam that are unique to these pieces. Wish I was in NY to check it out myself.

  • In from dVider. "Just as spring arrives here in our Brooklyn studio, so does our new guest artist series! Adding to our ever growing line of awesome vinyl wall stickers, our second featured artist, fellow Brooklynite David Ort, has explored the expressive and alluring qualities found in the human form and the anatomy of nature to create a fascinating collection of 9 provocative stickers. Available in four limited edition colors, in addition to dVider's signature 12, from May 1 through July 31, 2008. Head on over to dVider and see for yourself!"

  • Kim featured the beautiful work of interior designer Ami McKay here. Ami emailed to let us know of her other venture Pure. "I have found it difficult finding beautiful eco furniture when creating healthy and sustainable homes for my clients – so I decided to create my own. It is a line that is inspired by the elements fire, air, earth and water and melds high design with the purest sustainable materials available. Eco can be flattering!" Too many beautiful pieces to show here. You just have to go yourself but you have been warned. It's fabulous!

  • More wonderful online goodies in the email inbox. "My name is Holly Hallberg and I am the owner and operator of a modern Scandinavian web store called Huset. Our site is unique in that all of our items are Scandinavian and originating from either Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland; all with a modern feel. Huset carries everything from modern housewares, children’s goods, including clothing and toys and women's accessories and clothing as well. Several designers and lines within the web boutique are only available in the United States thru our store." I'm a total Scandinavian addict. Great shop Holly. I'm so glad you emailed!

I've run out of time and space and I have so many more to share. I guess there is always next week!

  • Geraldine, Gisele and Mariela are three Interior Designers from Buenos Aires, Argentina who emailed to introduce their vinyl wall decal company Almavinilo. Looks like the wall decal trend is still going strong. It's great to see new designs from other parts of the world too! The ladies are also blogging their enterprise.

  • Andrea Heimer has a new show "Icons - Portraits of Female Saints" at Bluebottle Art Gallery. The show will run throughout the month of May and pieces can be purchased online or at the Seattle store.

  • This email will definitely be a great source for US readers! "My name is Stephany, and I am an editor here at SeenON! the place to find products seen on the screen. I am reaching out to you because we have been doing some great things with our design pages like Divine Design and Dress My Nest and would love to have you share with your readers. Will someone please do this for Australia? I'd love to have the inside on products I see on the screen. Thanks for letting us know Stephany!

  • 66degrees is a new website, a place for people with one-of-a-kind tastes. It's a beautiful online store offering unique hand crafted fashion accessories and home decor (often one off always very limited) sourced from designers and artists around the world. So much to drool over on the website. Stephen Lagan from emailed 66degrees "to see if we get the word out about us- who we are and what we do, and about the talented roster of artists and their pieces that we are proud to be featuring." One of the reasons this WINKS has taken me so long to write is that I've been clicking from page to page coveting gorgeous artisan pieces.

  • Drop by Christine Andrzejewski's etsy shop this weekend and check out her pretty bird originals and cheeky animal collages. Good luck with the store Christine!

  • Cindy emailed from her fabulous kingdom of Flutter. "Flutter was opened May 2006, our 2 year anniversary is just around the corner. Our online store opened last month. The tag line for the shop is " A delightful disarray of found objects and clutter". We have many vintage and antique one of kind pieces gathered from around the world. The shop is very feminine and feels like one large international boudoir, but with a bit of taxidermy and oddities to break up the girliness. It has several twists and surprises around every corner and many have described the feeling the store evokes as what Alice must have felt like as she tumbled down the hole to wonderland." I want to go, I want to go! If you are near Portland, OR drop into this quirky funky kingdom of clutter and if you're not then browse every page of Cindy's website. Magical.

  • Received a press release about artist Martha Bannon. Her painted pillows have just appeared in Traditional Home Magazine. I stopped by her website and found not only sumptuous hand painted silk and linen pillows but stylish custom pet portraits and decorative painted furniture. A great site for all you traditional fans. We know there are quite a few of you out there.

  • Charlie has a passion for Cuban Posters (sounds like someone I know Kim) and after seeing his first at an exhibition "I started searching via local free ads and came across a couple of people in London that sold me a poster or two. Since then I have bought from collectors, from dealers, direct from a Cuban poster designer and from a crazy Cuban apartment in the backstreets of Havana ... I have a project in mind to organise an exhibition and one day when I have some time I'll try to put something together. For now this blog is the exhibition. Enjoy it." I'm hooked. Looks like a new collection starting up. Thanks Charlie!

  • "My name is Lindsey Chen and I'm the community manager for Threadbanger. Threadbanger is a 'network' of Next New Networks and we feature 2 different podcasts weekly. One of our shows is called Threadbanger and it's a DIY fashion / how-to show that comes out every Friday. In every show, we feature DIY tutorials as well as highlight new indie artists. We also take viewer questions from our community and have a very active and involved community online, as well as a blog. The other show is called Decor It Yourself and that comes out every Tuesday (both on Threadbanger.com). Decor It Yourself is all about DIY home fashion and how to make your home look more stylish and practical on a budget." Hey Lindsey great site. I've been stuffing myself on podcasts. Even when I went back to get links for this WINK I found myself watching more. Addictive.

  • Jonathan Adler is musing again and this time he's exploring his sources of inspiration. Morgan Fairchild Jonathan? Watch out Kim he's now doing bargello pillows if you need more after exhausting eBay's supply!

Satellite this month. Swoon! Beautiful designs as only the Finns can do. Go to their website for more inspiration.

  • Congrats to Jordan Cappella on his inclusion in the new book PREFAB NOW. His great interiors for the OMD prefab house are featured. Looks like a great book Jordan! Lucky you!

  • Marcia of Precious Style has just celebrated her blog's first birthday and to celebrate is hosting the Cutest Cupcake Contest. You'll find all the details here. Sounds like great fun.

  • BrieAnn also emailed to let us in on another exciting competition. "I wanted to send you information about a Design contest held by Country Living & the DIY Network as I think it would be of interest to your readers! Sawmill Village, the premier, ski-in, ski-out community located within West Virginia’s nationally-recognized Snowshoe Mountain Resort and mountainous landscape of Country Living Magazine’s 2009 Home of the Year, is giving designers the opportunity of a lifetime to showcase their creations! For the first time ever, interior design mavens across the nation are invited to submit a video testimonial to You Tube to win the opportunity to design a room within Country Living’s 2009 Sawmill Village Home of the Year!" You can find out more by going to Country Living/DIY Network YouTube page. OK design divas this is too good an opportunity to pass up. Can't wait to see the results.

  • New blog alert! Edi'sFiles is only a few months old and already it's full of fabulous rooms, furniture, fashion and art. Thanks for introducing your blog Bela!

  • An email from Gary lead me to a Linda Solovic's etsy shop. Her shop announcement sums it up. "The beautiful spring weather we are having has inspired me to create some collages using bird and flower themes. I have made these collages into prints available for sale. These prints will perk up any room and help shake off those winter doldrums." So cute!!

  • Jane and Hollie of Love It A Lot are having a Pyrex Spectacular at their etsy shop White Elephant Vintage. They've spent the past couple of months scavenging for every complete vintage Pyrex Mixing and Cinderella bowl set they could get their hands on. Sorry I'm a little late with this one but there are still some fab sets left and the rest of their stock is as always so cute.

  • A press release landed in our inbox from PuroLino. The images had me salivating. I love beautiful linens and their website had me dreaming about quality sheets and napkins, towels and tablecloths. Can't read a word of Italian but their blog has ethereal images of snowy linen. I can smell the soap and feel the sunshine.

  • Kim's lamenting over her cheap laminate floors and this email came in to make her hate her floors even more. "DuChateau’s antique replica hardwood flooring is designed to replicate historical floors found in Europe. The long-length and wide-planked boards are distressed, aged and treated with brushing, color stressing, and thermal treatment procedures. The flooring is further antiqued through hand-rubbed oil, stains and wax from original methods to reflect the romance, warmth and character of 17th century floors." Thank you to Erica for making Kim drool over new "old" flooring. Trouble is she'd probably want to slap white paint over these beauties.

  • And this in from Kristine. "I thought I'd let you know about California Faucets' Virtual Faucet Creator, a brand new online tool allows you to "design your own" faucet. It's really unique for the industry and lots of fun to play with in that you can actually design over 2 million custom faucet combinations. I think you'll find it a great way to get inspired."

  • And finally another new blog. Decor Fellow. Inspiration, design and a little bit of whimsy. Decor Fellow is an Interior Designer, Product Developer, Furniture Designer & All-Around Good Fellow (his profile and I'm sure it's true). It's great to see a guy in the design blogosphere and especially one with such a good eye and insider knowledge. Welcome DF.

Head on over to Juxtaposition Design and say hi to Lisa!

  • Janet Amon from The Showroom Collections emailed to introduce her discount designer furniture portal. She offers 3 types of services. As the website explains ... "The first is helping self-directed customers, who know exactly what they’re after, to purchase those items in a way that saves them time and money. All items are priced at 20% over designer cost, excluding shipping. This represents a considerable savings (approximately half) of the design industry markups of these same items. The second is a design consulting service, for those who would like some help in finding items for their homes. You tell us what you’re looking for and we do the research and show you what’s available. There is no fee for this service. The third is a comprehensive design service. Under all three options, you have entrée to truly remarkable furnishings and accessories – most of which are available only through design professionals." Definitely one to check out!

Bemz is the brainchild of Lesley Pennington, Canadian national and a former Apple marketing evangelist ... Big plans for this year - I'll be keeping you posted! Now, it's easy for everyone to get their sofas out of the doldrums!
