WINKS

... fresh flowers on a Saturday. Bliss.

WINKS - weekend links. Here we list what has come in during the week, things we've found and things we think you'll want to see. If you'd like to see your blog or website featured email us and if we think it fits with our readers we'll link you. So what's in this week?

  • Is it an egg? A chair? A light? A piece of sculpture. It's "Origin" by Chinese artist Qi Jin. Raw, graceful, it is hand carved from solid white marble. Find out more at Pagoda Red.

  • Now if only I could keep my recycling so stylish. I feel I'd have to shop at stores with gorgeous paper bags so my kitchen looked fab. Still a nifty idea! From Matteriashop

  • Interior designer Amy Lau has teamed up with S. Harris to create a stunning new line of fabrics. Launched just two weeks ago, the fabrics were influenced by modern art. Love the sophisticated colors. Perfect for that midcentury vibe.

  • Yes please! May I please have this bookcase designed by Jaren Goh for Munkii. "Vintage" is a sexy blend of historical reference and contemporary fun with its piano white shell and matte liver interior. Singapore design is too cool at the moment.

  • Speaking of a contemporary take on a classic design how about the Sorapot by Joey Roth. Stainless steel and glass. Available here.

  • Show you true love and carve your initials on a birch tree. Well not really. Instead personalise your crockery at Jessica Rust Designs. Sweet!

Brisbane-based and internationally renowned fashion designers Lydia Pearson and Pamela Easton have brought their passion for textiles and design to a new medium, these gorgeous rugs.

  • I know I know! Christmas ideas already? I loved Aaron R Thomas' lucite christmas tree when I saw it a couple of years ago and OMG I schemed and schemed to get one just like it. Well it's available here. Problem solved!

  • Fusing art and design is Rome-based lighting brand In-es.artdesign. Think industrial designer meets traditional artisan producing stunning statement pieces. It's like moon gazing.

  • Caviar20 - specializing in unique 20th century furniture, art & objects. Delicious little morsels. Here are my favourites.

  • Don't you just love the colours of the Breakfast range by Brissi! Storm grey, white and taupe. I'm already planning boiled eggs and toast soldiers and big mugs of tea, crisp linen napkins, newspapers and a sunny spot.

  • OK couldn't resist. I'm ending with more christmas goodies. Lovely handmade doves by Kylie for paper boat press. Oh and Kylie will be at the Finders Keepers Market next weekend at the Old Museum here in Brisbane. Maybe I'll see you there. Too much fabulousless from new designers and artists. • Remember these lovely wooden hooks from this post? They're The Dots by Tveit & Tornøe. Five tactile oversized knobs. (Did I actually write that?) Just gorgeous.

  • "Create beauty, respect the planet." Wearing eco aware credentials Environment Furniture is hot! Beautiful quirky and environmentally aware furniture and accessories. Need that denim sofa!

  • The clock I can't see by sonodesign. Designed by a colour-blind designer, this clock is based on colour-blindness test wheels. Take a closer look. See numbers hidden in amongst the spots? Well I hope you can.

  • Story Mann - builder, furniture designer. He has an eye for the beauty in the simple and functional and the talent to translate this understanding into inspirational furniture. Simply stunning!

  • From wood to now plastic. The Mi chair designed by Giovanni Pagnotta. Available in ultra white, orange glo, dark graphite and hyper green, it is made of 100% recyclable thermoplastic polymer. It's liquid lines strangely entice me to stroke it.

... what's in the newspaper?

  • Alischa from Bespoke Press"I wanted to let you know about a super exciting project we have launched today. Its called the Bespoke Letterpress Illustrators Project and in a nutshell we have commissioned 10 young emerging illustrators from across the globe to illustrate a 3 colour illustration for us - they are now part of a select team of Bespoke Illustrators and we hope to be able to help promote them and their emerging careers through the lovely land of letterpress. We are also having an online sale as well as running a competition for one lucky winner to win the complete collection of all ten prints! That's Au$650 worth, or US$560 worth of letterpress loveliness!" These are gorgeous! You can find more information about the project and the giveaway here. My favourite? The Smell Of The Sea by Inês Fernandes. Entries close soon but you still have time.

  • New from Gecko Stickers - side tables, lamps and candlesticks. Acrylic meets sticker. Taking the decal up a notch

  • Dear Santa, I'm letting you know super early that I'd really really like this Coral and Turquoise Beaded Hat from Pagoda Red's warehouse sale. I'm a sucker for ethnic pieces in the home and this will go very nicely on the hall table. Thanks Santa!

  • Loving these quintessential French architect lamps. The Lampe Gras, designed by Bernard-Albin Gras, can claim the distinction of being not only the original architect lamp, but the favorite of the godfather of modern architecture himself, Le Corbusier. So the spiel from Brook Farm General Store goes. LOVE these. Want these. Available in the bricks and mortar store in Brooklyn, NY, or shop online.

  • In contemporary design, less is more. That's the idea behind the Minimal Beauty Collection by MGS. Simple shapes, stainless steel and sexy. Can faucets have you salivating?

  • Lovely crafty goodness for your little ones (or even you) by Madeleine Sargent at Made by Mosey. I'm smitten with her Flutter Mobiles but her hankie quilts and bunting are too cute too. Etsy store here.

  • Congratulations to Jeanine from AphroChic. She's just launched her online store (AphroChic of course!) - modern. soulful. style. God that woman has style by the bucket load AND she's committed to sustainable design! I seriously need this.

  • A stylish mix of contemporary design and vintage finds. How can a girl resist a tag like that? Sophie Morris emailed to tempt us with Century Finds. "At Century Finds we offer a mix of vintage, found and contemporary items for the home, with the emphasis on quality and affordability. We always try to keep a wide range of unique vintage and found pieces in stock, from the traditional to the outright quirky. We also carry some amazing contemporary independent designers, including Xenia Taler, Chakra Pennywhistle, Bold and Noble and Pigeon Toe Ceramics."

  • I tip my hat! Made from actual bowlers and top hats the Wooster pendant lights are quirky and perfect for the eclectic masculine room. I can see these in a fab wood lined english gentemen's club style dressing room. Pip pip cherio!

  • Drawing from Danish and Shaker influences Meridian is the newest collection designed by David Moser. The grain and texture of the ash used in the collection gives it a clean, modernist feel. I just want to run my hands over its smooth smooth finish.

  • Jennie Schmid may be California born but she's Casablanca based. She loves to shop, to explore the Moroccan markets to find treasures for you. Her online store provides an opportunity to "almost" be there. Better still if you're in Casablanca she'll arrange a shopping tour for you.
