• Swoon! I'm in love with just about everything at Ochre. And now they are releasing a new range, canvas (below). If only I lived in New York ... I'd be stalking this store.

• Hip, cool, rad and fab. Venice Beach and Surfing Cowboys. It's vintage with soul. If you can't drool in person you can rummage through the treasure online.



• Amanda Talbot has been Homes Editor for Livingetc magazine and Associate Homes Editor for British ELLE Decoration. Now she's blogging. Only new to it all Welcome Home promises to be a portal into stylish homes around the world. Think of her contacts, think of the people she has worked with. Keep an eye on this one.



• A little late but Cardboard Safari have released the Astro Rocket to commemorate the Apollo 11 moon landing. (I'm old enough to remember...eeek!) Imagine one of these in a kid's room. Too much fun.



• Images of French cafes, coffee and croissant, a Pernod, the passing parade. Pretend that all of Paris is before with a bistro chair or two. Howard Kaplan Designs will provide the inspiration.

• Junk Delux - "the traditional junk shop for the disenchanted youth of the 21st Century, who are sick of the multi-national corporation". Benjamin Scott rules over this retro furniture shop based in Margate, Kent, which focuses on affordable modern design. Junk Deluxe specialises in British mid 20th century furniture, but also carries a good stock of Danish, Belgian, German and Dutch design. It looks so much fun. Imagine rummaging through the piles of junk to unearth that treasure. Heaven!




• mc&co is a retail shop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Founded in 2006 by Corinne Gilbert and Dan McCarthy, their website is now up and running and I've had to restrain myself from licking the computer screen. Their stock is just so delicious. Limited edition runs of unique objects, handmade, artisan and gorgeous!


• Original 1920s prismatic lighting salvaged from Cornish churches, industrial factory lights from the former Eastern Bloc and reclaimed lighting from the Victorian hospitals of South East England – these, and much more, all feature in the eclectic and ever changing collection from exciting new lighting brand Skinflint. OMG, OMG if reclaimed, vintage or industrial tick the boxes for you then this is a dangerous site, especially since they ship worldwide.


• Modern lumberjack. Handhewn from reclaimed wood and steel (often from construction sites, old barns or in some delicious cases...whisky casks!), the new Broen collection from Varian Designs bridges the gap between manmade and naturemade. As their website says, "Architecturally inspired. Environmentally conscious. Tradition meets innovation."




• I know I'm going to regret this but I wanted to give a shout out to one of Brisbane's best secret sources on eBay. I've been a follower of Katherine from The Oldboathouse for awhile now and have found and won some fabulous pieces. Now Katherine not only has a stall at the Gabba antique centre but a blog where she highlights her finds before they hit eBay or her stall. Insider trading ... nothing wrong with that. I know some of Brisbane's best known decorators and savvy home owners are among Katherine's clients. Like all things it takes patience but every so often you find your treasure at a really great price. OK I'm regretting telling you already.

• I'm loving these sculptures by Spanish interior designer and sculptor El loco del diseño. To see more of these amazing pieces visit his website.
  




• Kim and I have a soft spot for Pink. Casapinka that is. Pink has a new Etsy store full of cute vintage finds (love the Vera scarves) and handmade goodies. Every girl needs a little pink in her life.




• The BODIE and FOU Summer Sale is now on! Up to 50% OFF on designer brands including Normann Copenhagen, Cote Bastide, Albetta, Fatboy, Kathleen Hills and many more.... Ends 20th July 09. Shopping heaven. (Oh and their blog too!)




• Glitz and glam. The UFO chandelier with a curvaceous and sculptural shape is designed by Brian Rasmussen for Studio Italia Design. You'll find this innovative Italian lighting design company very illuminating. Sorry for the bad pun!




• Everything is more than OK at OK. Actually everything is gorgeous! I think I really really really need almost every item on the website. Honestly!

WINKS - weekend links. It's a short WINKS this week. I'm up to neck in collage, paint and print. Back to full posting from Monday but I wanted to share the amazingly generous work of fellow bloggers for now. Have you noticed the developing sense of community out there? Yes we have our blogging networks where we visit and comment popping in and out of each others blogs. A quick email to a blogging friend to ask how they do whatever they do technically to get that look you want for your blog too, queries about the "next" step to grow your readership. Private mentoring has been around for as long as blogging but now bloggers are coming together to demystify the whole process. Here are three such sites and if you know of more please share in the comments!

• The Skirted Roundtable has me hooked. Podcasts by Joni of Cote de Texas, Megan of Beach Bungalow 8 and Linda of ::Surroundings:: not only discuss interior design but the nitty gritty of blogging. From staying motivated to finding your voice these three established and trusted bloggers make blogging real.




• Megan also joins with Rebecca from loving, living, small at the Blog Out Loud Blog where you will not only meet creative types exploring the blogging world but pick up great ideas for your own blog. Starting as the Blog Out Loud Event in Venice, California, it's now expanded to include newsletters and blog TV. You'll find lots of inspiration here from the tech stuff to ideas for writing original content, photo tips, marketing ideas and more.




• Last but not least is the blog BAKERY. Jaime, Design Milk and Erin, Design for Mankind not only have a new business BAKERY to help you with a start-up, self-promotion or navigating the waters of social media but you'll find their blog invaluable. Practical advice on everything from brainstorming post ideas to social networking. Congrats to both of them as well for their gigs on AOL's new home design blog ShelterPop. Go girls!

• Totally loving Australian artist Chris Chun's online store. If you can't afford on of his original pieces there are always the art cards. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.




• Remember Ladybird Books? If you're a certain age you will. Peter and Jane and all the gang are now emblazoned on homewares available in Australia from Lark. Vintage 1950s, 60s and 70s images will bring a smile to your face. More here.





• Kate from 3rd Ward, an art facility in Brooklyn, NY emailed about upcoming classes. "I'd like to get the word out about some of our upcoming summer classes and I think we'd get a great response from your readers interested in the DIY aspect of your site that live in New York. We have a wide range of classes including woodworking (from the basics to furniture refinishing to more advanced design), Etsy-sponsored craft classes (embroidery, bookbinding, jewelry making), as well as welding & sculpture. All of our instructors are accomplished, currently practicing artists and craftsmen." Oh if only I lived in nearby! Welding! Woodworking and there's even a class on How to Make Crappy Stuff Awesome. • Love love love these prints by UK printmaker Dee Beale. Midcentury mixed with a Scandinavian feel.Follow her design process on her blog as well.




• The 5th annual Guerilla Truck Show. Had to post this because their poster is hitting all the right buttons for me. Too much fun! The GUERRILLA’S are rolling their trucks into Fulton Market on Tuesday, June 16th, 6-9 pm. So no excuses. If you live in Chicago check it out.
