Oh I do love an English kitchen. The wooden cabinets, in this case with a bold navy finish, the pantry cupboard, a big stove with a mantle. I love the amazing light flooding through the windows in this particular example and we don't need to mention the floors. It's not the first time I've had my head turned by Blakes London (you can see more posts here) and I'm sure it won't be the last.
Oh, to have this much space to decorate and live. Martha O'Hara went with a mostly black and white theme in this absolutely stunning home in Minnesota which is always a winner, and I love that this home is not overly precious or pretentious. This home proves my point (as if I ever needed to prove it) that black framed windows are the only way to go. (And is perhaps something I should consider down the road when I'm looking for another project in my home - the white frames of my leaded and stained glass windows aren't really doing it for me).
Trees, river, windows, views, spaciousness....what more could you want? This 6,500 sq ft home in Coxsackie, NY on the Hudson River is unbelieveable, inside and out. I can't imagine having all those windows to be able to enjoy the outdoors 365 days a year. Love love love the black window trims in this apartment (via Entrance Fastighetsmäkleri) although I may be a little biased because my own doors and windows are painted black at home. So dramatic. So lush. So easy.
WOW! Do I ever love THAT house! :)Which house? THAT House by Austin Maynard Architects. The site is neighboured by huge houses. We were asked to provide the family with 'just the right amount of space'. By creating large openings and generous connections to the garden we aimed to make this modest-sized home feel abundant and broad. The result is a home that is almost half the size of its neighbours without compromising liveability. (Lets be clear, THAT House is not a small home). The owners of THAT House are keen to able to open up to the community rather than permanently hiding or fortifying themselves. We have installed upwards blinds to give the owners control over their level of privacy. The ground floor of THAT House is ostensibly open, however the arrangement of spaces allows the owners to be together, or secluded, or any level of engagement in between.
