Little white box

"Townhouse in Landskrona. The narrow site is sandwiched between very old neighboring buildings. Three thin slabs are projected into the open volume, softly dividing its functions. The continuous interior space is opening up to the street, to an intimate garden, and to the sky."

A stylish white box takes root like a weed in a city sidewalk crack, grows towards the sun and shows that it is a beautiful flower. Clever urban infill design by Swedish architectural firm Elding Oscarson.

Stalking partners

I have a stalking partner. Her name is Anne. We've never met. She stalks alone, I stalk alone as all good stalkers do but Anne is generous. She shares her targets with me. Like this cute little Darlinghurst, Sydney house. I think we need to buy it so we can meet up in Sydney every so often and stalk property in real life. Oh! That's called attending open for inspections isn't it? Link here while it lasts.

Inside Out is out

I knew it was time. I had sweaty palms, a slight headache, a dry mouth. I was hanging out ... for my favourite interiors magazine. I knew it was time for the latest edition of Inside Out when an email from Lee Tran Lam, Managing Editor arrived in my inbox. I knew it would be a sneak peek at one of the fabulous homes in the March issue. I just knew it. Here's what she wrote,

It's the weekend home of interior designer and stylist Kali Cavanagh – and with a CV like that, it's unsurprising that it's a beautiful, well-furnished space. It's located in Daylesford and has a nice mix of age-worn industrial pieces. She's also added lots of personal touches – courtesy of her toolbox and DIY-savviness. In the bathroom, there's a vanity that's unlike any I've ever seen before. "It was a desk," she says. "I removed the legs, cut down the top and cut a hole for the sink then added one of the desk legs at the front." She also transformed a set of drawers into another vanity, placing brass French mailbox name plates near the handles. (The stylist is Julia Green and photographer Armelle Habib.)

Aussie readers can pick up their copy of the March Inside Out Thursday. Don't fret if you aren't in Australia though because you can read along on  ZinioGoogle Play and the Apple Newsstand.

I love what a statement that framed flag makes in the bedroom above. Art is such a fun way to bring a graphic element into a space. If you're looking for tips from interior designers on how to display art in your home, then check out this article
