Monday getaway

Run away! Run Away! It's Monday. Let's keep the weekend going with a virtual getaway to the Hospedería Convento de La Parra in the Extremadura region of Spain. We could call it a retreat. It is a 17th century convent after all.

"Sorry. You are not going to find a television set here, not even a radio tuner. Only spaces for reading, a table for playing board games, corridors for reflection, cloisters that will bring back to you the smell of orange blossom, lime, wood, rest, peace, water and sun."

Aaaahhh! A heavenly cure for Mondayitis.

City cool

A 21st century apartment in a 19th century house in Kiev, Ukraine. A sleek contemporary space pieced together carefully within a rough brick shell. Subtle changes in floor heights lead you from living room and kitchen to the dining room or up a few a few stairs to the bedroom and bath. A cool urban pad by Olga Akulov DESIGN.

Codo a Codo

It's neck and neck, side by side, elbow to elbow what I like more about this holiday home on the island of Menorca. The sleek, white contemporary lines or the organic, natural touches. Maybe how the two place off each other. The epitome of modern summer style. By Codo a Codo Arquitectura.

A light filled galley kitchen

I love this light filled kitchen that provides the link between the old and new in this inner-city Sydney terrace house. Reclaimed bricks and rustic timber shelf balance the sleek modern lines and smooth stone benchtop of the galley kitchen. Light tumbles in from the skylight while the transition from traditional dining room to the modern alteration is made via worn sandstone steps. Finally the space reaches a small but stylish courtyard. Such a beautiful space for cooking. By Paddington based design firm Alexander & CO.

Pastel confection

Her name is Sophia. She is an artist, she is single but casually dating a couple of guys right now trying to figure out what she wants in a forever man. She loves a cocktail or 2 in the evenings, and loves to curl up with a glass on one of her white sofas with an interior design magazine, and turns the TV on to a rerun of Sex and the City. She has decided to sell her duplex flat situated over the top two floors of this period property in Earl's Court, London because she's bored with this flat and wants a new place to start fresh. Perhaps one with period architectural details, and maybe next door to Mr. Right....or Mr. Wrong. ;) (Details of this Savills-listed flat here and here
