Another design project in Poland by Lucyna Kołodziejska

Polish interior designer Lucyna Kołodziejska has impressed me yet again with this latest project of hers that she sent me juicy photos of. Hired on by the homeowners initially to redesign their bathroom, she ended up redecorating the entire house. The result is a truly elegant blend of classic and modern elements that flows from one room to another with a very subtle colour palette of beige and earth tones (Lucyna was inspired by coastal homes) that would ordinary have me wanting more but here it just makes all of the beautiful details stand out. And the cat has won me over too. :)

Durham House

I love the idea of escaping for a few days to a 5 star hotel whether far afield or just in the next city. An escape from the everyday to somewhere special. What I love even better is a getaway to a beautifully crafted home like Durham House, a unique alternative to luxury hotel-style accommodation. Luckily this award-winning house by architects Owen and Vokes and Peters (now Vokes and Peters) is less than an hours drive from my own in the bohemian, inner-city Brisbane suburb of West End. The 1920s worker’s cottage has recently undergone an extensive but sympathetic renovation and is the perfect base for exploring all that Brisbane has to offer. There is only one problem though. I won't want to leave at the end of my stay!

Emma Hos update

Scandinavian spaces are perfect for a Friday. Super comfortable and casual and bright with the familiar touches like plants in every corner, white walls, wrinkled sheets, lots of side tables and black accents. The kind of spaces you want to crash in after a long work week. These spaces by interior designer/stylist Emma Hos are definitively worthy. (Find a previous feature of her work here).

A farmhouse with modern touches

There is nothing like neutral, earthy colours that makes you want to stop, smell the flowers and hug someone. This family-friendly farmhouse in New South Wales, Australia by Cottonwood Interiors is a bit classic American, a bit Scandinavian and just about the coziest home I have seen in a long time. Understated, relaxed yet elegant. Always a winning combination that stands the test of time.

Maximalist

So much to see. So much to touch, to turn over, to stroke. I would be the most rude of guests fidgeting in my seat, jumping up to flick through a book, pick up a trinket, open a box, to take in the beauty. Somehow I don't think the owner of this Birmingham, Alabama home, interior designer, artist and neo-traditionalist William McLure would mind too much. I think maximalists love to display their treasures and to have others secretly covet them. I know I do ;)
