White

I've been stalking Swedish real estate sites again. Look here's a new one (well new to me)! Is the whole Scandi white thing over? Does it still give you goose bumps? I know it still tugs at my design heart. These days though I am loving natural floors, old timber, patina but, hey, white floors are still fab. I love the vibe of this home. Small but stylish, simple but just perfect for an inner city lifestyle. Please, please Santa if you are reading can I have that knitted throw for Christmas? Yummy! Link here.

Love this!!!

99% of the posts on this blog are published to inspire our readers. I'd say the other 1% are purely selfish posts that Jo and I post because we find something we adore and want to remember. This is one of those selfish posts. My twin sister sent me this home on Hus & Hem the other day and I went a little nuts. I am in love with the black exterior of this home. I've been thinking alot lately about what to do with the interior of my home, particularly the new addition we're adding, and haven't given alot of thought to the exterior. But after seeing these photos I WANT A BLACK HOUSE!!! The interior of this home is pretty fabulous too because it's black and white and that's what I'd like to do to mine, but with less of a modern/Swedish vibe and more industrial and ethnic bits thrown in.

P.S. My husband and I found 2 local architects that we'd LOVE to work with for the addition we're planning for the house but one is too busy and the other missed an appointment with us this week. I'm starting to worry we'll never find anyone so if anyone out there knows of an architect in Ottawa who is creative and likes to think a bit outside the box, please email me @ desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.com. Sara Sjögren

Time for more Swedish fabulosity (is that a word?). Interior stylist Sara Sjögren takes the all white Scandi vibe and injects it with a colour shot. Like vitamins for a wane and washed out look. Or putting the pep in a colour pop. love the white living room with touches of blue anchored by a neutral patchwork oriental rug. Dark storm clouds are rolling through here so bright and white is just what I need right now. Must go before the thunder and lightning gets too bad. Enjoy!

Marcus Lawett

Time for another great photographer. Love the white white white and that light ... gotta be a Scandinavian snapper. (The IKEA shots are a give away too.) Love the softly darkling of his shots. Softly darkling?  OK I made that up but you know what I mean! Marcus Lawett is the super talented photographer and if you recognise some of the shots it will be because they were styled by Sofie Andersson, now Sofie Lawett. My Swedish obsession continues. Susanne's Swedish pad

We received an email from Susanne Lindgren the other day who wanted to share with us the Stockholm home her and her family had built which happens to be for sale (see listing here). It is ideally Swedish and perfection in every way. It is staged so beautifully I can't imagine it not being snatched up immediately. The kitchen is incredible - I LOVE the black wall with black uppers. I love the concrete floors on the lower level and the whitewashed timber floors upstairs. I love all the carpets, love the bench in the hallway, and love the overall sparseness. I reeeeeeally wish I could live like that, without so much STUFF everywhere but it seems impossible.
