Modern and minimalist Californian renovation

The renovation and extension (a second floor was added) of this 50s era home saw the floor plan reworked and a modern, minimalist approach taken as to materials and textures. The simple colour palette of white with black accents is warmed by wood giving the rooms an almost Scandi vibe but this is no Nordic abode. The exterior and the pool side are definitely a Californian dream. Green Oak Residence by SIMO Design.

Sydney sandstone

Ease and elegance, sophistication and stylish simplicity. The hero of the landscape design is the sandstone, walls, steps, pavers, referencing the outcrops of this golden stone seen throughout the Sydney area. Central to all is the pool, a cool oasis in the inner city. Classical gives way to overgrown jungle as you climb the stairs to the upper level. Darling Point by William Dangar.

A home filled with art in Moscow

This fabulously eclectic newly-built home filled with art is located in Moscow and was designed by Anna Erman. (Note: there are a couple of dead animals pictured for those who take offence). Lots of quirky art pieces are displayed throughout the home but my favourites are the chandeliers over the dining table (by Winnie Louis). Nothing floats my boat more than statement lighting! The lighting over the pool is also fabulous I must point out. Via Architectural Digest Russia, photos by Stephen Jouillard.

Stalking a room with a view

I'm stalking a bathroom with a view and a living room with one too ... and a pool and a garden and a hallway and a bedroom and you get the idea. I can only imagine what the New Year's Eve fireworks over Sydney Harbour look like from this spectacular location at Rose Bay. Perhaps we can pool our dollars and cents to make an offer. Link here while it lasts.

Backyard dream

The designer calls it an urban soul garden, this tight city backyard is now filled with outdoor inspiration. Internal and external merge and meld with the new garden design zoned into pool, cooking, al fresco and studio space with a gritty industrial edge and the promise of lush green plantings. Naroon Road by Melbourne-based C.O.S Design.
