I have fallen completely in love with this home in Westlake Village, L.A. designed by Amy Elbaum of AE Designs. It is very bright and spacious (hi 3 living rooms!) and Amy has added some fun artwork and doses of bold colours via some of the accent furniture and accessories. A total party pad!!!
Shaped almost like a child's drawing of a house these two pavilions have been positioned to take advantage of the views and the sunlight, providing that all important connection between inside and out. The buildings may be clean lined and minimal in their shape but the interiors are warm and welcoming, overflowing with bright light and I'm guessing cooling breezes when they arise. Most of you will know why I wanted to share this post with you. Being a cat mom to many, it's a dream of mine to have a house that coordinates some designs for the cats within the architecture. Design and architecture firm Barker Freeman was asked to convert this Brooklyn rowhouse into a series of lively, light-filled spaces and to provide accommodations for the homeowners two shy but inquisitive cats — including ways for the cats to slip away from unexpected guests. My ferals would totally appreciate that, and they would love this home as much as I would.
I must point out the fact that the bookshelf wall not only has the top accessible to the cats but they can get up there via shelves that project to create invisible steps.
Take a two bedroom Art Deco era house that has seen better times. Give the old girl a well deserved makeover with a spacious modern extension. Take care to marry the old with the new. Final result? A stunning family home with a sophisticated colour palette of black, white and blush. I love the repetition of the stacked tile motif. Blending new with old is what went down in the renovation of this classic apartment in Vienna. Original tiles, doors, windows and wood floors were restored, making a perfect backdrop for a modern partially free-standing kitchen and furnishings. A subtle grey and white colour scheme makes this home serene and keep the attention on the details. By architecture and design firm destilat.
