Some random googling the other day led me to this incredible Brooklyn loft and I had to share it with you all. It is the home of Brin Reinhardt and Nathan Ursch of Breuckelen Berber - 960 sq ft of gorgeous loftiness located in a converted sandpaper factory. They have it all decked out with to-die-for classic mid-century pieces that create such a vivacious, eye-catching space. And OMG, their cats are named Charles and Ray (the Eameses). Gawd I love this! Have you ever wondered what the vacation home of an architect might look like? Neil Schwartz of Schwartz and Architecture designed this Hydeaway house in Sonona, California for himself, his spouse and their dogs, with the hopes of eventually retiring here. It's 2000 sq ft of midcentury modernism on one acre surrounded by vineyards. The main house sleeps six and a separate guest house sleeps two. Oh - and you can rent it. :-)
My love for mid-century homes continues. Today I bring you a home in Carmel, Califonia that was renovated by architects Carver + Schicketanz. The owners were looking for an extra bedroom as well as a new kitchen and bathrooms. It is now the perfect blend of mid-century and modern, in its architecture as well as furnishings. I am swooning over the windows by the front entrance, and even the "rickety" fence.
While I try and snap out of my cottage coma (wow, a day of fresh air can do wonders), please enjoy this funky, eclectic location home I found via 1st Option. It is a mid-century chair porn delight, with really beautiful architecture as so many British homes have. Also could not help but notice the flooring throughout...*sigh*.
