My favourite home...ever

You may have noticed I love Paris-based magazine MilK - their decor features in particular. I was pretty stoked when I came across the latest issue of MilK Decoration at a local magazine shop a few weeks back. There are lots of fantastic homes inside but one in particular knocked it right out of the ballpark. It is the vacation home of Laurence (co-founder of the shop Serendipity) located on Île de Ré, an island off the west coast of France. This is the home of my dreams - every single inch of it. Ocean views for starters, large windows, high ceilings, wide plank wood flooring, earthy colour palette, beautiful lighting (Jieldé!), raw & natural textures (those linen sofa covers and bedding!), vintage re-purposed items (tubs from washing machines used as bedside tables), large artwork....it is an endless list. If you can find this magazine, BUY IT. It is worth every cent, and more. These photos look even more glorious in print. This has become my new bible. I sleep with it under my pillow. ;) Photos via Karel Balas.

Inside Out

I'm always excited when I see an email from Inside Out magazine's managing editor Lee Tran Lam. It means that the latest issue is about to hit the stands and that we are getting a sneak peek at one of the homes within the cover. And what a home! Be still my heart. Here's what Lee Tran had to say.

This home belongs to interior stylist and buyer Karen Kelly Tarasin – built in the style of architect Harry Seidler, her house cleverly matches the modernist feel with lots of era–evoking items. There are even "ancient" stools in the kitchen that are so comfortable that – when Karen tries to bring in any additional seating – her kids make her return any possible replacements. Karen has also worked for Vampt Vintage Design and Mark Tuckey, so she's got a solid background in casting her eye over furniture that best suits a space.

There's more info in the story, by Lynne Testoni, styled by Claire Delmar and photographed by Prue Ruscoe.

I don't know about you but I'm packing my bags and moving in. I say that on a regular basis but this time it is no idle threat. Aussie readers can pick up their copy of the May/June Inside Out on Thursday. Don't fret if you aren't in Australia because you can read along on  ZinioGoogle Play and the Apple Newsstand.

LOVE!

This 1820's home is located in Santa Teresa, a 'hood of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is GORGEOUS, and is the home of Bia Lessa and was completely renovated inside by architect Camila Toledo. The floor, the windows, the sleeping dog...I want it all! (Via arquitetura & construção)

Inside Out is out and it's early

Don't you love it when the next issue of your favourite magazine is about to hit the shelves? I guess what's even better is when it pops up early! Lee Tran Lam, Managing editor ofInside Out magazine emailed with a tasty tidbit from the April issue.

"I hope you don't mind if I share with you the colourful home of a photographer whose work has featured on your great blog before. Her name is Jenny Brandt, she's from Sweden, and of course, she's a talented multitasker – she's a blogger and illustrator, too. Not only does she know how to zip through her to-do list, she also has overhauled an originally dilapidated house – with its cracked façade and plastic carpet – and turned it into something vibrant and welcoming. (Adding lots of windows and colour really helped! Her dad also gets credit for painting duty – he turned the dining table an electric coat of purple.) The graphic pink-and-white pattern that jolts through one room is pretty cool, too.

The styling is by Kicki Wieslander and, of course, Jenny took the great photos. They appear in our new April edition (surprise surprise, it's the colour issue – with a double hit of colour on the cover, too; in fact, there are two covers!)."

Love Jenny's home! Love the two covers! I've seen inside the latest issue and I love it all! a kaleidoscope of colour! Aussie readers can pick up their copy of the April Inside Out now. Don't fret if you aren't in Australia though because you can read along on  ZinioGoogle Play and the Apple Newsstand.

Nothing but neutral

I REALLY love neutral spaces. The sense of peace and tranquility that comes with such soothing tones....like this home photographed by Jitske Hagens and styled by Cleo Scheulderman for vtwonen. Yes please!
