I'm back

Hey everyone. My trip to Mexico sadly came to an end Thursday and I have returned to my reality of frigid cold and snowstorms. How I miss cloudless skies, HOT temperatures and being lulled to sleep by the sounds of the ocean. Oh - and the food. Ah mah gawd I ate well. So while I scramble to get my life back in order before the work week begins, here is a quick post on a home I found on Nuevo Estilo (bummed I could not find this mag on my travels). It is located in Paris and is the home/art gallery of Valerie de Marotte and Vicenç Boned of Galeria Tagomago. Stunning architecture, spacious, and just the right amount of eclecticism.

Inside Out is out

I knew it was time. I had sweaty palms, a slight headache, a dry mouth. I was hanging out ... for my favourite interiors magazine. I knew it was time for the latest edition of Inside Out when an email from Lee Tran Lam, Managing Editor arrived in my inbox. I knew it would be a sneak peek at one of the fabulous homes in the March issue. I just knew it. Here's what she wrote,

It's the weekend home of interior designer and stylist Kali Cavanagh – and with a CV like that, it's unsurprising that it's a beautiful, well-furnished space. It's located in Daylesford and has a nice mix of age-worn industrial pieces. She's also added lots of personal touches – courtesy of her toolbox and DIY-savviness. In the bathroom, there's a vanity that's unlike any I've ever seen before. "It was a desk," she says. "I removed the legs, cut down the top and cut a hole for the sink then added one of the desk legs at the front." She also transformed a set of drawers into another vanity, placing brass French mailbox name plates near the handles. (The stylist is Julia Green and photographer Armelle Habib.)

Double dose of Inside Out

Ready for our second sneak peek inside the pages of the latest issue of Inside Out? How about this amazing home?!

"The second home – styled by Jason Grant and photographed by Prue Ruscoe – is nicknamed "Austinmer Opera House". It's perched on a cliff in the beach suburb of Austinmer (in Wollongong, an hour south of Sydney) and has a striking look that was inspired by the 10-year-period (!) where architect Alex Symes (in association with G+V Architecture) spent drawing the Sydney Opera House in his spare time to work out why he liked it so much. The home has won a Master Builders Australia award for energy efficiency and environment management, which makes it a perfect fit for our eco issue, " writes Lee Tran.

Inside Out

Oh how I've been hanging out for the new Inside Out. I'm such an addict! An email from Lee Tran Lam, Managing Editor, gave me little butterflies of excitement. I knew she would be sharing another fabulous home with us. I was wrong. There wasn't a sneak peek attached. No there were two!

"The first home – styled by Andrea Millar and photographed by Prue Ruscoe – is a really quirky warehouse in Sydney. There's a "Spaghetti Bar" sign in the kitchenette, a lap timer clock from a swimming school in the dining room and even a trapeze (!) that hangs between the second and third level. (Originally, there was a rope and pulley system between the floors to move goods. The owners put the swing up to take over the void – and use it for chin ups and fooling around!) My favourite room would be the teenage daughter's bedroom, which has this ultra-colourful rug that looks like a rainbow of burst balloons have been swept into the room." I love this home. I'd move in tomorrow! The second house? I'll share that one in a few hours. Completely different and very cool!

A weathered warehouse

I saw this story on the website of magazine Garden & Gun and while on the subject of magazines, thought it was worthy of sharing as I love a good warehouse conversion. This warehouse is in Greensboro, North Carolina and is now the shop and home of antiques dealer Dan Garrett. His shop is the main level, the second level is half shop storage and half main living space (including kitchen, dining area, a sitting room) and the third level is a wide open living area with a bed tucked into a rear niche. Love the rustic industrial feel and the coziness that is created from Dan's beautiful antiques.
