Loft lurking
End of the week real estate stalking. Today I'm lurking around this whole floor apartment in the old Maples Warehouse in South Yarra. Lots of white tempered with rich neutrals, almost as many living areas as days of the week, sunny balconies and killer suburb in Melbourne, Australia. I'm already figuring out what furniture to give away and more importantly what I would bring in. If only the bank manager would say yes. At least I have a lottery ticket for tomorrow night. Waterfall factory
Breathtaking. Simply breathtaking. A lake, a waterfall, a 1950s factory refurbished into a minimalist space that reaches out to a wooded wonderland through walls of glass. References to its industrial past are complemented by the sparse interiors but what could be cold is brought to life by that view. Fitout and furnishings are simple. The art graphic and strong. Friday stalking quickie 1
I know! I know! Two days in a row with the real estate stalking. bear with me. It's my mindless recreational activity. I wanted to finish the week with two properties and drum roll please ... here is the first. Modern warehouse space, 2 levels. Living on the ground floor then up the stairs to 2 bedrooms (one used as an extra living space) and the bathroom. I like the simple industrial feel. Lights, concrete, signs and exposed plumbing. Opinions please on the tire bed. I know that the pallet bed divided the blogosphere. Do we have our next bedding controversy? Glen Iris, Melbourne. Link here while it lasts.
Eclectic dreams
Now here's a different take on Swedish white. A huge loft in Stockholm with soaring ceilings, skylights to dream about, a bookcase that makes my heart sing and a roaring fireplace. Eclectic is definitely the vibe here. Contemporary married with fine antiques, throw in tribal pieces and oriental finds, Scandi design and open plan on a grand scale and I'm hooked. Wouldn't you love to snoop through the bookcase, pick up the knick knacks and turn them over, ask to crank the stereo way up. It may not be the place you'd want to make your home but don't you just want to party! Oh imagine ... night time, low light, fire burning, wine in hand and favourite music ... and a couple of dozen of your best friends. For sale here. (Thanks for the link Daniela!)
