There is nothing better than a well designed kitchen except a well designed kitchen that is as beautiful as it is practical. I'm in love with the colour of the cabinets, the floor, the light spilling in through the windows, the lovely old chairs and the sitting area by the fire ... on and on the list could go. This thoroughly modern family home proudly displays its modernist architectural lines, its two "boxes" seemingly floating on stilts on the site. Talk about how to drag an 80s home kicking and screaming into the 21st century. Wow! Retaining original features like the curved walls the house is now fresh and fab, updated but still with a playful nod to the decade the taste forgot. (No, no, not true! Elwood House is a single storey, bayside residence that has been renovated to better suit its location and the needs of a growing family. Voids and skylights create sun-lit internal spaces that are balanced by natural timber, white and grey surfaces. Large living spaces open to sunny courtyard gardens with outdoor entertaining areas and a pool, giving this home a relaxed and inviting feel.
