It's no surprise that French architect Camille Hermand is one of our favourites. Her latest project sees her take on a family home in a western suburb of Paris. No suburban hohum here though. Her signature use of black and white is enriched with deep accents of blue and a deliciously tart citron yellow while a striking concrete staircase leads you up through the floors. Talk about Parisian chic in the 'burbs!
Dutch interior designer Jeroen van Zwetselaar of ZW6 has transformed this 1930s semi-detached house into the perfect home of artist Casper Faassen. Light and shadow, open yet contained, new and old, the design breathes new life into the building. I love the house striped back to its bones, a white box containing the kitchen and dining room slipped into exposed brick shell, love the airy loft bedroom, the hard floors softened by rugs and always the art, the beautiful art.
We've had a sneak peek into this house before (Inside Out is out) but it's time to see some more. Contemporary open plan with excellent transitions between inside and out, interesting use of materials, meticulous attention to detail and that dramatic black kitchen. Rawson House is fabulous renovation and extension of an older style house by an award winning architectural and interior design firm Alexander & Co. It's light, bright and modern with clean lines and that all important connection to the outdoors.
