BMID latest

Can I admit to playing favourites? Sydney-based interior designer Brett Mickan inspires me every time. Love his strong sense of colour, his contemporary with a twist designs always with a vintage touch, his stylish but family friendly spaces. So of course I'm smitten with his latest design. Stalking where I've been before

I'm stalking a house I've featured before, the Balmain House by Fox Johnston, only this time I think I like the real estate photos better. The house seems to have mellowed, grown into its modern extension. Great to see a floor plan. Link here while it lasts.

Neil Architecture

Elwood House is a single storey, bayside residence that has been renovated to better suit its location and the needs of a growing family. Voids and skylights create sun-lit internal spaces that are balanced by natural timber, white and grey surfaces. Large living spaces open to sunny courtyard gardens with outdoor entertaining areas and a pool, giving this home a relaxed and inviting feel.

Love it! The light, the clean, modern lines, those steel framed windows and doors, the seamless transition from inside to out and once you're outside ... just as impressive. Elwood House by Melbourne-based Neil Architecture.

Raw

A raw and edgy addition to an Art Deco home sees function contained within the exposed structure of the form. A limited palette of blacks, greys and blonde wood with exposed concrete, rendered walls and untreated plywood give a Scandinavian meets modern Australian feel. Lees House by Melbourne-based Rob Kennon Architects.

Andy Martin encore

Please don't ask me why it's called the "Beach House" when it sits in west London. Perhaps it's the bright, casual vibe. Lots of bleached timber, pops of colour, walls of glass to let in the light and capture the sea garden view. A family home that is casually stylish, at ease with its Edwardian era heritage and its modern extension. Evocative of being on holiday in the city. The reason doesn't really matter. Beach House by Andy Martin Architects.
