A modern addition to a deco home

A modern addition to an Art Deco home by Folk Architects has been brought to life by Sydney-based design studio Amber Road. What could have read as disparate spaces now references deco elements through colour, texture and a bespoke light fitting in the entrance. A thoroughly stylish family home.

Stalking a mullet

What's that saying about a mullet hair cut? All business up the front and party out the back. I'm stalking a charming old house in Elsternwick, Melbourne with a thoroughly modern extension. Coming in from the garden

Last month I got your creative garden juices flowing with a stunning specimen garden by Eckersley Garden Architecture but all along there was the tease of the house beyond. Stalking two on a Tuesday

It's two for Tuesday, not pizza but properties I've been stalking. The first is a moody, masculine apartment in inner-city Sydney while the second, in the Melbourne suburb of Malvern, is a modern extension to an Edwardian house by architect Geoff Challis with landscape design by Rick Eckersley. You can find the links here and here while they last.

Addendum: Hmmm it's actually Wednesday and I've been blithely carrying on as if it was Tuesday. Wednesday not Tuesday. Sad thing is I can't remember where my Tuesday went. Apologies over :)

More from Marc&Co

By building in under the original house and adding a two level extension to the rear, Brisbane architects Marc&Co have increased the usable footprint of this Queenslander style house while maximising the space available for a garden at the rear of the inner city block. From the street the old home retains its original features and now contains the bedrooms while the additions allow for the open plan living with the indoor/outdoor connection so prized by Australian families.
