Another UXUS project

The folks over at UXUS (an interiors and architecture firm based in Amsterdam that we have blogged about previously here and here) emailed us Friday with one of their latest residential projects. Here is a little bit of background info: The Wilton Residence is a 1930’s hunting lodge located in the historical heart of Connecticut. The home belongs to an American family, who after living in Europe for 13 years returned to the US. The interior is a reflection of their years living abroad with an eclectic mix of high European contemporary design, personal mementos and a classic American style. UXUS wanted to create an invigorating energy by fusing a pioneering spirit with the inherent comfort of effortless style – colonial yet innovative. Inspired by Rustic Luxury and essential beauty found in simple things, every space within the Wilton Residence exudes openness, personality and playful sophistication. I LOVE this home...the mostly neutral colour palette (including lots of white), the modern furnishings that are a great juxtaposition to the exterior, the references to the outdoors through the dining chairs and wallpapers - love the Piet Hein Eek one in the bedroom!!

A fun family home and studio

I saw this house tour on Dos Family recently and fell in love. It is in fact 2 tours - the studio and the home of artist and fashion illustrator Lisa Grue. The workspace is so open and bright and would be an amazing place to bring out one's creativity. Lisa's home is equally bright and colourful and would be the perfect place to raise a family. The studio is up first, and her home is after the jump. (Photos by Jenny Brandt).

Sidsel Z

Interior stylists are jacks (or should that be jills) of all trades. They need imagination, creativity, lashings of DIY nous. Fearless with colour, queens (or should that be kings) of quirky. Not only on trend they often set them but always they create just what their client wants which is always just what we never realised we are craving in our lives, our wardrobes and our homes.  Sidsel Zachariassen of Sidsel Z has that beautiful boho scandi vibe we can't get enough of at the moment but mixes it up with the saturated colour bursts we have come to expect from Danish styling. Her work is real and personal. I want to curl up on that porch, whip up a cook's dream in her kitchens and pad across white, white floors in her homes. Nothing is overly precious but always beautiful.

Gitte Kjaer

Turn your eyes away now if fabulous rooms and inspirational style boards are too much for you first thing in the week. I cannot get enough of Danish stylist Gitte Kjaer's vibe. Edgy, cool, relaxed but rocking. Even better that her website is full of large, luscious images. Enjoy!

A castle in Denmark

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away a castle awoke from its slumber, shook its traditional roots and decided it wanted to be thoroughly modern. Well almost. A fairytale castle always has to be just a little bit fairytale. I love this modern take on a traditional home. Katrine Martensen-Larsen of KML Design always finds the most wonderful places.
